SCOPE OF THE JOB:


  • This role’s responsibilities include driving growth by creating, assessing and managing business opportunities including, but not limited to acquisitions, mergers, joint ventures and partnerships as well as having a hand in major capital projects. The VP of Corporate Strategy develops and communicates a compelling and cohesive strategy for the company, aligning both near and longer-term success metrics to that end state. The Vice President of Corporate Strategy partners closely with leadership across functions to connect dots across a vast portfolio and re-imagine what the future of our business will look like. After expertly researching key competitive themes and trends, identifying opportunities and solutions, they will prepare recommendations to enhance the company’s strategic plan. This role frames discussions and evaluates strategic choices by making data-driven recommendations to inform critical decisions.


YOUR CHALLENGE:

  • Prepare and manage investment budget for new products, services and enhancements
  • Work with senior leaders to establish a comprehensive strategic roadmap and implement short and long-term objectives and initiatives to drive business results, and to provide fact-based thought leadership on key strategic and financial decisions
  • Support key strategic priorities and projects in partnership with the CEO and CFO, and working with other functions and stakeholders as required
  • Develop the Business Case methodology – establish a standardized way for leadership to test new business initiatives that are candidate projects or programs including but not limited to: scorecard/benchmarking of initiatives, assessing project prioritization, and evaluating risk assessments
  • Plan, organize, and supervise the work related to any new initiative, assess progress, analyze results obtained, and recommend adjustments as required to achieve the stated objectives of the opportunity
  • Negotiate – during prospective deals and on contracts for major projects while working closely with multiple internal cross-functional areas, as well as external business partners
  • Identify trends in the marketplace and monitor competitive landscape to determine impact to the organization's product roadmap and uncover opportunities for innovation and growth
  • Manage the Strategic Plan throughout the year – once baked, keep a constant eye on the health of company performance to the Plan as initiatives are completed, swapped or injected
  • Engage cross-functionally and be an analytical resource to the rest of the business
  • Quarterback the corporate strategic planning process – providing thought leadership, quantitative and qualitative analysis, recommendations, and materials preparation with the support of members of FP&A


Leadership and team management responsibilities:

  • Communicating effectively and ensures information is delivered in a clear and timely manner
  • Leading by example by delivering positive results and being a visible Catena ambassador
  • Managing team performance effectively through the practicing of ongoing performance management, including conducting performance reviews and regular 1-1 meetings
  • Enabling team and individual growth from induction stage to ongoing learning and development
  • Taking ownership of recruitment and selection for your team by working closely with HR and TA teams


TO DO IT, YOU WILL NEED:

  • Undergraduate degree with a focus in Finance or Commerce; attainment of a MBA, CFA,CBV or CPA, or a combination of the preceding, is desirable
  • 10+ years of work experience acquired in an internal strategy department for a high growth organization
  • A successful track record in evaluating business and/or major capital initiatives that have had a high impact on a high growth company
  • Proven ability to analyze, evaluate and make recommendations on strategic
  • Experience in affiliation, with a preference for digital ecommerce or iGaming

Working Conditions:


This position is 100% remote. Must be available during regular business hours in your evening and weekend work on occasion. Must possess a stable, high-speed internet and working cellular telephone. Must be able to routinely perform indoor work with minimum noise levels. Must be able to perform job functions independently and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to plan and direct the work activities of self and others. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence, naturally or electronically and may include adaptive aids. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.


Physical Requirements:


Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 8 hours per day. At times, occasional evening and weekend work may be required. Must be capable of travel by automobile (as driver and passenger), commercial airlines, rental vehicles and public transportation and be able to lodge in public facilities, as may be occasionally asked to travel to sites or events. Must be capable of regular, reliable, and timely attendance.
