Job Description

As VP of Business Development, you will be responsible for leading the origination and development efforts for the U.S solar market. This role requires a high performing leader who can develop and mentor a team to excel in identifying, communicating, and delivering origination and development value for APR’s utility scale solar business across the U.S. markets.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, lead, and mentor business development team members to explore creative deal structures and establishing strategic partnerships with other forms of complementary generation.
  • Develop sourcing channels, identify key market opportunities and establish strong market presence including originator and developer relationships, targeted state Renewable Energy programs, and industry network.
  • Identify early and mid-stage development projects for acquisition.
  • Close collaboration with the land acquisition business unit to grow the pipeline of Utility Scale Solar projects from inception stage through to permitting to ready to build stage.
  • Provide deal structure recommendations to minimize collateral requirements and support negotiation of financing arrangements.
  • Deliver target volume, revenue, and margin goals for off-take agreements for solar projects.
  • Drive power marketing ideas to definitive deliverables (financial models, term sheets, contracts) and timetables for execution.
  • RFP & Proposal Development – identify RFP opportunities and originate bilateral PPA, VPPA targets outside formal RFP processes.
  • Negotiate various power contracts with counterparties in collaboration with stakeholders from across the organization.


Requirements

  • Knowledge of and experience with Investment-Grade or equivalent Customer Acquisition, PPAs, VPPAs, Other Off-taker Agreements, Power Marketing, Development, Finance, Land Acquisition of Utility Scale and Large Commercial solar projects.
  • Specific experience originating, pricing, structuring, and analyzing physical and financial PPAs ,VPPA’s is required.
  • Extensive experience leading power origination and development and managing a team of originators and developers.
  • Business experience must include experience with all aspects of business development of Utility Scale solar projects
  • Possesses in-depth power markets expertise and has successfully executed Utility scale power and energy agreements.
  • Candidates must have significant relationships and contacts across the U.S. power markets and understand the evolving Federal and State policies in regards to Renewables.
  • 3-5+ years' experience working in the US Utility Scale Solar sector.
  • Understanding of concepts including basis risk, power markets, hedging, losses, and congestion.
