The American Diabetes Association is seeking a Vice President of Health Care Programs to join our Science & Health Care Team. The Vice President will be responsible for an array of ADA programs, some of which are income generating. These programs target both people living with diabetes and healthcare professionals including the Education Recognition Program (ERP), the Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP), the ADA’s Nutrition Program, and Community Engagement. This leader will have the opportunity to work closely with a robust leadership team and utilize a variety of professional skills with a heavy emphasis on communication, strategic thinking, fiscal management, and program management. The impact of this position is global, and the VP will be expected to expand the program reach and impact. It is required that this individual possess strong organization skills, have strong experience in fiscal management, have an innovative approach to diabetes care delivery, be willing to try non-traditional education and engagement approaches and have a strategic mindset with a portfolio growth goal. This leader will need to proactively identify content area needs and budgetary matters and communicate them effectively with the Chief Medical & Science Officer or the VP of Operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Creation of strong strategic plans for department programs that maximize assets and plan for program growth and expansion.
- Ability to distill concepts into presentations and strong story lines for both internal and external audiences that communicate the main message, the purpose, and the strategic process.
- Engage as an effective communicator who can connect with partner leaders, other department leaders within the ADA, as well as external vendors and partners.
- High organizational skills that support the management and delivery of several programs simultaneously.
- Understanding of the intricacies of program promotion and ability to think creatively to boost program utilization and ultimately program expansion.
- Administer high-quality program and fiscal operations and recommend process improvements, as warranted.
- Identification of strategic program collaborations and the ability to drive impactful program delivery.
- Management of content, speakers, and an external committee of thought leaders for ADA’s Clinical Update Conference.
- Collaborate with national meeting management team on the execution and strong delivery of relevant aspects of the annual ADA Scientific Sessions and other meetings.
- Management of speakers and relevant external partnerships with an eye on program deliverables and timely program execution.
- Engage with key volunteers on behalf of the ADA.
- Participate in content relevant grant writing.
- Build the skills and commitment of direct reports/program managers to follow best practices, properly manage content delivery, and to operate with fiscal discipline.
- Evaluation of program effectiveness and ability to offer innovative solutions for growth and enhancement.
- Collaborate with other divisions within and outside of Science and Healthcare on various ADA projects as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s Degree or above in healthcare related field.
- At least 10 years of management/leadership experience.
- Proven expertise in diabetes clinical care. (Must have strong diabetes experience.)
- Proficient in fiscal management, report creation, and MS Office Suite.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organized self-starter who requires minimal supervision and who excels in a team environment.
- A positive approach to work and an innovative mindset will be skills necessary to excel in this position.
Compensation Range: $148k to $160k DOE
