Overview
Position Summary:
The Vice President of Creative Marketing is responsible for leading the development and execution of all marketing creative and production initiatives at Burlington, while also being the “brand champion” for the company. This leader will oversee an in-house team that creates all marketing materials (video, audio, and digital advertising content, along with owned channel content such as in-store, email, social media, and website) and ensures on-time production of all marketing assets. The Vice President will also articulate and maintain a cohesive and compelling brand identity for the company, driving brand affinity, engagement, and increased purchase behavior among consumers. A highly collaborative role, this person will work as part of a high-performing team of marketing leaders, spanning insights, planning, media, communications and PR to create world-class off-price marketing to drive business results.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Establish a culture of continuous improvement – working to evaluate the effectiveness of our creative, the efficiency of our production, and the processes we use to collaboratively build solutions together.
- Create and (in partnership with other Marketing leaders) execute all marketing campaigns across all paid, owned, and earned channels.
- Manage a process to efficiently and smoothly produce a high volume of content – including customized content by segment – on time and on budget. Manage all outside creative/production vendor relationships to ensure maximum value capture and optimum output.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of in-house marketing professionals as they grow their careers and contribute to Burlington’s goals.
- Lead the creative vision and strategy for Burlington’s marketing – one that aligns with and supports our mission of providing great merchandise value to customers. Ensure that all campaigns advance our brand message and influence other leaders across the company who have a role in bringing this vision to life.
Education and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Advertising, Fine Arts, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
Experience:
- “Brick and mortar” retail experience required (discount/off-price retail strongly preferred)
- Proven experience and impact within a marketing agency and/or corporate marketing function; 10+ years of experience, with at least 5 years of leading creative teams
Skills and Abilities:
- Experience developing innovative marketing approaches; comfortable taking risks and pushing creative in new directions
- Ability to balance left/right brain thinking, equally comfortable with marketing measurement and marketing creative
- Comfort operating in highly collaborative environments; needs to be seen universally as a good partner and excellent listener who incorporates other points of view into his/her solutions
- Well versed in developing in-store collateral that advances the brand voice in new and innovative ways
- Proficiency in translating industry and consumer insights into effective marketing campaigns
- Strong communication skills – excellent at presenting, writing, and speaking to inform as well as inspire
- Established history of developing brand strategies that change consumer perception
- Demonstrated success as a people developer and leader – with ability to flex style depending on need
- Strong portfolio demonstrating success in developing and executing integrated marketing campaigns across multiple channels
