B.S. in Mechanical Engineering Ability to use engineering fundamentals to review and approve design changes. For instance, a design engineer proposes changing the material of a bracket (metal to plastic) for weight savings. Before approving this change, the expectation for this role is to review analytical engineering data to confirm the plastic bracket’s modal analysis is above 30Hz to overcome 1st mode of resonance frequency. Ability to implement and use engineering 1st principles for root cause analysis and to create data-driven solutions. For instance, if a bolt was found loose, then the expectation of this role is to measure external loads using accelerometers/gauges and hand-calculate theoretical bolt capacity. The expectation is to also understand friction, slippage, and design tolerance stack up to prescribe the appropriate solution
