Job Description
Job Summary


Under the direct supervision of the Department Chair, Arts and Sciences, this position will teach a full time A&S faculty load as well as supervise all aspects of the Education program. The program director will also serve as a mentor for Education related concurrent enrollment and adjunct faculty members.

Minimum Job Requirements


  • Prior supervisory experience preferred.
  • Master’s Degree with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in Education or related discipline.
  • Must be able to communicate with faculty at a high skill level.
  • Must demonstrate a high degree of competency within the discipline(s) to be taught.
  • Must relate well to students and colleagues, and create a learning environment conducive to student learning.
  • Must have a minimum of five (5) years of full-time teaching experience.


Work Performed


  • Coordinate the course schedule for day, evening, and distance education courses.
  • Actively participate in program promotion and recruitment of students, provide academic advising as needed, and assist in the placement and follow up of graduates.
  • Lead and/or participate in the biannual advisory committee meetings, contributing to the meeting agenda and seek input from advisors.
  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance at work.
  • Instill a realistic work attitude in students with clear expectations for skill development.
  • Conduct in person classroom observations of Education faculty members.
  • Coordinate all assessment procedures in related programs.
  • Organize, promote and oversee extra-curricular activities in the discipline.
  • Attend and participate in all scheduled faculty meetings unless excused by the division dean.
  • Complete annual performance evaluations for all Education faculty members.
  • Serve as club advisor, when appropriate, to provide support for students in program-related co-curricular groups.
  • Actively serve on college committees as appointed and at state and national meetings.
  • Organize and present various concepts to a wide range of students with varying backgrounds and abilities, and adjust teaching techniques accordingly.
  • Coordinate program equipment or classroom needs.
  • Teach courses in accordance with objectives of the course outline as set forth by the division using a variety of instructional methods and technologies that facilitates learning for all students.
  • Assist with the interview, selection, orientation and evaluation of full time and adjunct faculty.
  • Measure and evaluate student progress and maintain accurate grade computations. Prepare and submit accurate grade reports as requested.
  • Assist in maintaining public relations with the local community and take part in community relations when possible.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.
  • Coordinate related curriculum development.
  • Develop and maintain current course syllabi/outlines for assigned courses.
  • Emphasize to students the importance of prompt and regular class attendance.
  • Maintain cooperative relationships with professional personnel, local organizations, public officials and other interested people.
  • Promptly report repairs needed for the classroom and equipment.
  • Coordinate discipline faculty meetings.
  • Participate in and oversee the collection of course and program level assessment criteria. Ensure the data collected is properly entered into the college’s SPOL software program.
  • Lead the program evaluation procedure for the assigned areas.
  • Assist in planning and carrying out studies and surveys.
  • Represent the College in the most positive manner with prospective, former and current students, clients, suppliers and the community.
  • Stay up to date with trends in the field and update program curriculum and equipment as appropriate.
  • Coordinate textbook selection.
  • Submit to appropriate resources reports on all students who may need counsel.
  • Meet all assigned classes and office commitments as scheduled.
  • Keep accurate inventories of equipment and supplies and submit requisitions for needed materials.
  • Attend career fairs, recruiting events and community events to promote the academic program, club and/or college.
  • Provide appropriate career and academic advising.
  • Meet the standards of the college’s Quality Faculty Plan.
  • Collect data and prepare reports on related courses.
