The Data Strategy COO team in the Analytics, Data and Innovation organization collaborates across Morgan Stanley Wealth Management lines of business to deliver complex initiatives supporting the firm’s strategy to combine best-in-class technology with best-in-class advice. The team currently provides program oversight and governance for multiple agile fleets operating in a hybrid environment. Program Managers partner with both business and technology teams, of all levels, and provide horizontal oversight of multiple agile squads to help maintain alignment with business strategy, problem solve and manage stakeholder expectations. A successful program manager in this space excels at simplifying complicated information, building relationships, helping people ‘connect the dots’ and are organized, structured self-starters.


Job Responsibilities


  • Proven ability to communicate effectively to multiple levels of management, strong communication, facilitation, and presentation skills
  • Support risk and issue identification, escalation, and resolution
  • Distill complex concepts and content into straightforward, digestible information that stakeholders, teams, and Management can understand and action
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent experience
  • Strong team player who is results oriented, self-motivated, and able to act on own initiative; able to lead and influence without direct authority
  • 10+ years’ experience supporting or delivering significant change programs in complex, global environments
  • Robust problem-solving skills and willingness to roll up one’s sleeves to get the job done
  • Manage fleet-level agile ceremonies and other meetings with core project team members, key stakeholders, and corporate leadership team members
  • Program administration throughout the full systems development life cycle using both Agile and waterfall methodologies
  • Hands on experience with JIRA is helpful
  • Understand multiple business strategies and develop trusted partnerships with cross-functional business, technology, and operations delivery teams to drive successful delivery
  • Execute Basic Program Management activities:
  • Create informative, actionable, and repeatable reporting as needed
  • Integrate knowledge of end-to-end business processes into program planning and decisioning processes
  • Understanding of wealth management, and a familiarity with digital advice and wealth management landscapes; lead distribution, marketing, business, and / or IT experience preferred
  • Drive the successful prioritization, planning, monitoring, and closure of large, complicated programs
  • Experience maintaining waterfall and agile governance processes, with templates, reporting, timelines etc.
  • Actively champion Agile & program management best practices to drive better performance; Coach and mentor Product Owners and other members of the Agile Fleet to ensure delivery is in conformance with company methodologies and standards
  • Experience managing complicated projects utilizing Agile (SCRUM) or Agile at Scale preferred


Expected base pay rates for the role will be between 100,000 and 235,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
