Job Description
Hi from Pumpkin!

Pumpkin is a pet care company on a mission to help make ‘the best pet care possible fur all’. We want to revolutionize pet healthcare by making it easier for families to provide their pets with the wellness and medical care they need throughout their lives. Launched by Zoetis (ZTS), a Fortune 500 company that’s the world’s largest animal health company, Pumpkin is an early-stage startup with big dreams! As a pack, we share agility, guts, collaboration, and a relentless pursuit in creating a healthier, happier world for pets and their people.

Pumpkin is looking for a highly motivated and results-driven Strategic Account Manager to join our team. In this role, you will play a pivotal role supporting our efforts in the veterinarian channel, expanding our customer base, and driving revenue growth. With a focus on building strong client relationships and executing effective sales strategies, you will contribute to educating veterinary professionals on the value of pet insurance. If you have a track record of exceeding sales quotas and share our passion for pets, this is the role for you!

This is a remote position requiring weekly territory travel of 4 dedicated field days and 1 home office day in the Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) metro area.

What You'll Do:

  • Partner with our marketing and design teams to create sales collateral, presentation decks, etc
  • Successfully communicate and drive Pumpkin’s newest services and initiatives
  • Educate vet hospitals on the value of Pumpkin insurance and benefits in engaging pet owners
  • Develop and execute territory business plans, routinely adjusting strategies and tactics to maximize performance based on market and customer information/needs
  • Generate leads and policies, building effective and lasting relationships with veterinary hospitals and clinics
  • Be agile as we continue to grow and business needs change
  • Nurture existing accounts through regular in-person check-ins, ensuring continuous support, and maintaining relationships with hospital staff
  • Grow and maintain the assigned accounts in your territory
  • Meet and exceed quarterly sales goals within your territory
  • Deliver and educate hospitals on Pumpkin via in-person and virtual presentations
  • Utilize and become proficient in our CRM (Salesforce) to track and improve customer engagement on a daily basis
What We're Looking For:

  • Ability to work nights and weekends
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain influential relationships with veterinary professionals, key opinion leaders, and industry stakeholders
  • A solid understanding of the animal health industry, including knowledge of various products, pharmaceuticals, and treatment protocols
  • Passion for pets and a genuine interest in promoting the benefits of pet insurance
  • Ability to pass/obtain a Property & Casualty License within 30 days
  • 60% Travel required
  • Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets in a B2B or B2B2C approach
  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • 3+ years of outside sales experience, including managing field activity expectations and sales goals
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with a persuasive and consultative approach
  • Technical competency in using CRM systems, sales analytics tools and productivity tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc)
Bonus Points:

  • Experience with Pet Insurance
  • Current P&C Producers license
  • Experience with Salesforce CRM
Benefits & Perks:

  • Pumpkin Insurance and preventative care for every pet in your family
  • Generous PTO and Paid Holidays
  • Comprehensive contributions to medical, dental and vision for colleagues and dependents
  • 401k with company match
  • Pet Friendly Offices, Stocked Kitchens, Team Workouts, Team Outings and much more!
  • The opportunity to join a team where every team member has the autonomy and support they need to boss their role and make empowered decisions
Pumpkin's Core Values:

Pets Come First: Put what’s best for pets at the center of everything we do

Trust the Pack: Help families make empowered pet care decisions

Jump Fences: If there’s a will, there’s always a way over them

Share Toys: Be generous with our gifts and amazing things will happen

Dig New Holes: Challenge conventions to create the future of pet health care

The compensation for this position ranges from $60,000- $80,000 (annually). Compensation may vary outside the listed range, based on a number of factors including but not limited to location, qualifications, performance, skills and experience. The compensation range listed is just one component of Pumpkin’s total compensation package for employees. Total compensation packages, depending on the position, may also include incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, and other short or long-term incentives. If hired, employees will be in an ‘at-will position’ and Pumpkin reserves the right to modify compensation (as well as any other discretionary payment or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
