Description
Our SE Region is looking for Staff Pipeline Engineers to sit in either our Atlanta, GA or Charlotte, NC offices and will be responsible for performing pipeline engineering and consulting services for clients across the US. Main responsibilities include working with the design team to create pipeline design deliverables. Projects range in size and complexity from small utility distribution upgrades to large transmission projects. This position can influence the growth and success of the Pipelines group. Opportunities to advance into leadership roles are available.
Staff Pipeline Engineer may include full or partial responsibility of the following assignments:
- Assist in preparation of proposals and scope development, including
- Execution of engineering activities
- Support business development and marketing initiatives
- Pipeline facility design (metering and regulating stations, storage field upgrades, and compressor stations) including plans, sections, and details and associated bill of materials
- Pipeline design including plans, profiles, details and associated bill of materials
- Material and equipment specifications for procurement and/or factory acceptance testing
- Provide short term field support during construction
- Develop and improve processes, tools and/or factory acceptance testing
- Regularly meet and correspond with clients or outside personnel
- Calculations for studies and reports
- Coordination to obtain survey, geotechnical investigations, permitting, land acquisition.
- Engineering/project cost estimates and schedules
- Assist with coordination of design activities with other disciplines (Pipeline Facilities, Civil/Structural, Electrical, Instrumentation and Control, etc.)
- Provide leadership, training and mentoring to less experienced engineers and team members
- Conceptual designs and execution plans
Qualifications
- Capability of solving difficult problems that require adaptation and modification of standard approaches, techniques, procedures, and criteria
- Proficiency with 49 CFR Part 192 and ASME B31.8. Preference for familiarity with 49 CFR Part 195 and ASME B31.4
- Strong preference for those with:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Successful completion of FE or EIT exam strongly preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from ABET accredited program
- Minimum of 3 years related experience (completion of master’s degree in related field may be substituted for one year of experience)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
