Controller
Position Summary
We are seeking a leader to not only be a controller, but be a key executive to assist in growing the Johnny Clean brand.
The Johnny Clean Controller supports our internal clients as a Business Advisor in a capacity with specific focus on strategic insights and initiatives, collaboration and financial reporting and analysis. We are looking for a Controller to join our team to manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department. This position includes management of accounting processes, overseeing coordination of deliverables for the financial statements and audit, and working with business leads to ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures. Successful candidates for this position should have prior managerial experience, strong written and oral communication skills, and an accounting/finance background. The successful candidate must be a self-starter, highly organized, have a hands-on approach, and possess the ability to thrive in a fast paced, matrixed, and dynamic environment with competing priorities and stringent deadlines.

Responsibilities
- Plan, direct, and coordinate all accounting operational functions, such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash receipts and payroll.
- Work closely with the CEO, Operations leaders, and on ad hoc projects as required including C-suite initiatives to prepare analytics, solicit input, and develop recommendations and implementation plans.
- Coordinate activities of external auditors and CPA firm.
- Advance strategic initiatives by attending meetings, providing subject matter expertise, and preparing ad hoc reports.
- Maintain, document and review processes for internal controls.
- Have a passion for teamwork and contribute to the development of the Johnny Clean brand and accounting team through learning initiatives and knowledge share sessions, networking events, and other areas aimed at building our global footprint and strengthening our Johnny Clean brand.
- Work with Leadership to manage budgeting and forecasting KPI’s.
- Generate accurate financial statements, P&L, Balance Sheet, Budget vs. Actual, Cash Flow, in each case in accordance with IFRS accounting standards and internal policies and procedures.
- Manage and institute financial systems and metrics that will measure and communicate accurate financial status. Heavy emphasis towards expense control and unlimited membership subscriber reporting.
- Assess current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement, and implementing new processes.
- Complete month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing, including preparation of journal entries, account/variance analysis, and coordination of audits.
- Provide management with information vital to the decision-making process.
Qualifications
- Proven ability to build strong relationships, establish trust, identify needs, customize solutions, and motivate teams to drive operational and strategic priorities.
- Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to exercise judgment consistent with achieving organizational goals and strategies.
- Outstanding research, analytics, and quantitative aptitude; advanced attention to detail required for success in this role.
- Prior experience with external auditors preferred.
- Data warehouse and Business Intelligence experience.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience working as a Controller.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or related field is required.
- Experience working with a Top 4 Accounting Firm, P/E or National Consulting Firm.
- Ability to effectively present ideas and solutions in a logical and articulate manner with the ability to work effectively with and influence Senior Executives.
