The Controller directs the financial recordkeeping function for the Company. Recommends and implements establishment of accounting policies, practices, and procedures. Maintains all accounting records. Directs internal and external financial reporting. Directs and manages the Corporate Accounting, Accounts Payable, and Financial Reporting Functions as well as direct management of the Human Resources Functions.

What you will be doing

• Tax compliance
• Support month-end and year-end close process
• Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances
• Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements
• Oversee accounting operations including control systems, transaction-processing operations including policies and procedures
• Manage outsourced functions
• Additional controller duties as necessary, including management of corporate insurances and compliance reporting
• Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
• Supervise accounting and HR staff of 3 to 5, including hiring, training and mentoring employees
• Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
• Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting
• Research technical accounting issues for compliance
• Manage all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, Payroll, GL, Job Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, WIP Management and Revenue Recognition
• Job costing and market rates

Qualifications

• Experience with multi-state payroll
• 8+ years relevant construction accounting experience required
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration or equivalent business experience is required
• Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software (prefer Acumatica experience)
• Experience with Human Resource management
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and manage team to deadlines
