About The Role
Millions of people around the world took that daring first step to start a business with Shopify. And we’re looking for a staff-level art director to help lead our creative team and launch campaigns that inspire the next wave of entrepreneurs.
About the role:
  • Be a champion for the craft of advertising design and creative problem solving.
  • Design for all the channels—social, radio, digital, online video, TV, print, OOH.
  • Own projects with significant scope, complexity, and responsibility from kickoff to launch (and handle the twist and turns along the way).
  • Guide the work of more junior creatives, oversee agency relationships, and help run point on productions.
  • Take a leading role in the concepting, pitch, and production of breakthrough campaigns.
  • Partner closely with teams across production, media, strategy, product, and research.
Qualifications
  • You’ve got plenty of gumption. And perseverance. And drive. That’ll come in handy in this fast and loose environment.
  • You’re highly strategic, understand how to best approach each channel from a creative and production standpoint, and find crafty ways to get the most out of every campaign.
  • Your portfolio of work shows that you’ve done it all before…and done it really, really well. Open to both agency and brand-side. Leadership experience preferred.
  • You’re also a pleasure to work with and enjoy solving creative problems with others.
  • The facts and figures matter to you. You’re always learning from past work, hunting for new insights, and know how to frame your bright ideas in a strategically-sound way.
  • You have superb “front of house” skills—presenting work, facilitating feedback, building consensus, following up.
  • You go far and wide when it’s time to concept. And then sweat the details for rounds and rounds when it’s time to execute. Craft is everything to you.
  • You’re comfortable partnering with stakeholders and other department leads at the project planning stages—timelines, budges, media, audience, testing, asset needs.
  • Specifically-speaking, you’re extra savvy on all things social and have created breakthrough work for small screens.
