Job Overview

Lummus Consultants International is looking for a senior level individual help grow our Decarbonization practice. The position is focused on the petrochemical and refinery areas. This new Decarbonization practice encompasses Carbon Solutions (strategies to reduce and capture greenhouse gases) and Clean Fuels (hydrogen, biofuels, etc). The team works with Lummus Consultants existing global practice areas, with the aim to provide more focused emphasis and growth in this important part of the global Energy Transition. The individual will also interact with Lummus Consultants’ parent organization, Lummus Technology.

Lummus Consultants is an autonomous international business within Lummus Technology that provides technical due diligence to lenders, investors, owners, sellers, buyers and project developers. We have work in a broad range of technologies, particularly in energy – offshore and onshore oil & gas, LNG, pipelines, power generation and transmission, as well as refining and petrochemicals.

The Position Requires An Individual With

• High degree of self-motivation;
• A broad global knowledge of decarbonization and energy transition issues;
• Previous consulting experience and strong written and verbal communication skills;
• Technical engineering background;
• Broad knowledge in refining and petrochemical processes;
• Strategic thinking
• Comfort in a business development/sales role;
• Ability to differentiate and prioritize opportunities with real short-to-medium term potential for future consulting assignments;
• Experience in one or more of the decarbonization areas;

The individual we are seeking must be comfortable and confident to work in a seller/doer organization structure.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

• Understand the refinery and petrochemical plant flow scheme and work to assist clients with options to reduce their carbon footprint;
• Prepare clear and concise written reports on assignments, develop conclusions and present clear and precise written and verbal results to clients;
• Report to Director Decarbonization of Lummus Consultants
• Pursue new opportunities, capitalizing on the candidates strengths, contacts and market opportunities;
• Achieve objectives with minimal oversight;
• Interact with Lummus Technology and Lummus Consultants team to jointly pursue opportunities;
• Take a major role supporting the growth of this new business line for Lummus Consultants – leading the consulting engagements with petrochemical and refinery clients. Complementing the Lummus Consultants core business, this new practice area will be heavily focused on technical solutions but with a broad business perspective;
• Carry out business development; marketing and proposal preparation efforts;
• Lead and participate in consulting project work;

Basic Qualifications

• A degree-educated Engineer; MBA is a plus but not required;
• Strong written communication skills; including ability to write clear and concise reports in English;
• Demonstrated project management skills
• Good computer literacy – Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
• The candidate should have at least 2 to 3 years recent experience in the Energy Transition;
• Strong verbal skills and history of speaking at conferences
• Minimum of 5 years experience in a consulting company
• The candidate should have strong interpersonal skills and an ability to interact with peers and clients from different nationalities and cultures
• The candidate should have 15-25 years relevant professional experience;

Office location and travel:

• Job-related travel to be set by candidate based on the business plan. This is expected to be in the order of 20-25 percent per year
• Houston, TX office is preferred. Other locations will be considered.
