From facilities delivering life-saving therapies and ensuring clean water to enabling the connection of people through all modes of transportation and providing access to technology – we're integrating a multitude of these solution elements to build the smart environments of tomorrow.

Start your Jacobs career with a company that inspires and empowers you to deliver your best work so you can evolve, grow and succeed – today and into tomorrow.

Your Impact:

At Jacobs, we’re not just building structures. We’re helping our clients innovate and grow by designing, engineering, and executing the construction of their advanced manufacturing facilities that are changing our world.

As a Sr Construction Manager, you’ll join our collaborative team providing our clients with award-winning planning, engineering, architectural design, construction management, and design-build project delivery. We’re looking for a passionate Construction Professional who is driven by collaboration, exceeding expectations, and challenging the status quo.

The Construction Manager’s (CM) primary function is to support SAS/SEC in reviewing contractor performance against the contractor’s responsibility for schedule and quality and assist in planning work to make sure the contractors can perform in the most efficient manner. The CM will work with the SAS/SEC managers as a team, and report to the Jacobs Project Manager. The CM monitors the work installed by contractors to ensure it is completed using sound, acceptable construction practices. The CM will be a resource for the Owner to provide guidance on US construction practices (for their specific disciplines) and review change orders. The CM is also responsible for auditing installed quantities as reported by the contractors to aid in accurate schedule updates and the invoicing review process. They participate in Interactive Planning (IAP) efforts for schedule sequence development.

Responsibilities include:

  • Monitor the Contractor's progress on a daily and weekly basis and provide recommendations for improvement based on past experience
  • Participate in Constructability reviews to optimize cost, schedule, and safety
  • Assist with value engineering efforts around the design
  • Assist in developing innovative solutions around modularization and other means
  • Note any defects observed in the field on the master punch list for that area
  • Identify and optimize construction equipment needs
  • Review change orders requested by the prime contractor
  • Review and recommend construction sequencing to optimize cost, schedule, and safety
  • Monitor the Contractor's progress and compare progress quantities to the master schedule
  • Review and verify engineering documents and construction specifications
  • Liaising and leading weekly construction meetings to help drive the schedule
  • Monitor the Contractor's progress on a daily and weekly basis and provide input into the master schedule
  • Review and verify any field changes and route for approval from the engineering
  • Review and recommend approval of the site logistics plan and interface management among contractors
  • Establish a process for notification and remediation of defects to the Prime Contractor during construction
  • Review, verify, and recommend approval of the prime contractor’s execution plan, compliance with code regulations, and shop drawings
  • Review contractor works to ensure installation is in line with the design drawings and engineering documents

At Jacobs, we’re partnering across the globe to create the best project outcomes by maximizing the design, digital technology, and support capabilities of our Global Integrated Delivery (GID) teammates. By joining Jacobs, you’ll commit to supporting and engaging with these teams, as we work to build a company like no other.

Here’s What You’ll Need:
  • Strong working knowledge of pre-design and pre-construction, building systems/components and technology, contract management, project delivery methods, team building, and client relationship building
  • Demonstrated expert knowledge of Civil, Structural, and Architectural Construction activities, sequencing, and general building principles
  • 12+ years of experience in managing construction projects related to industrial and/or commercial facilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline

Ideally, you’ll also have:

  • Certified Construction Manager (CCM), Professional Engineer (PE), or Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Experience in either Semiconductor or Life Science projects
