Job Description
SPECIAL EVENTS MANAGER
What You'll Do
The Special Events Manager is responsible for leading, coordinating and supervising the execution of promotions and special events at Dreamscape’s new Rio Las Vegas Hotel & Casino. The special events department will also be responsible for coordinating internal / employee events as required.
ROLES EXPECTATIONS
Responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the following:
  • Ensure that all space requirements are booked for events.
  • Manage all tasks related to executing an event (idea conception, meeting planning, customer experience, installation, strike).
  • Assemble gift packages, mailers, welcome packets and other event related materials.
  • Understands the basics of Title-31 in relation to their job function and holds team accountable to adhering to compliance processes.
  • Direct and supervise the execution of drawings, promotions, slot and tables tournaments, awarding prizes, and the completion of winner’s logs.
  • Provide on-site management of all events, acting quickly to resolve any issues.
  • Must have a professional demeanor and the ability to remain calm under high pressure situations.
  • Maintain exceptional customer service at every interaction.
  • Create and maintain promotional collateral in alignment with brand marketing standards.
  • Responsible for all details, planning and logistics required to execute successful promotional events following the guidelines set forth by the Casino Marketing Department.
  • Perform other reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Ensures all promotional collateral on property is accurate and up to date.
  • Supervise and train staff; support team growth and own day-to-day management responsibilities.
  • Create and budget events to drive customer engagement.
  • Manage and maintain vendor contracts/agreements and find new exciting vendors when appropriate.
  • Research and approve all event expenses (gifts, décor, entertainment, emcees, collateral, F&B) while staying on budget.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position oversees the Special Events Supervisors and Special Events Reps, in addition to any 3rd party vendors/contractors hired to assist with events.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalency
  • Minimum 2 years related experience in casino marketing and/or casino operations.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including nights / holidays / weekends.
  • Minimum 1 year experience leading a team.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Deadline oriented with strong time management skills.
  • At least 21 years of age.
PREFERRED
  • Prior experience in a casino-resort setting.
  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of event design, event coordination, customer experience, current trends and the ability to apply this to the job.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state and local regulations.
Physical Requirements
  • Must regularly lift and/move up to 20 pounds, and must have the ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, kneel and balance when performing job duties in varying work areas such as confined spaces.
  • Must be able to work under time constraints and within established deadlines.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Work is performed indoors in a climate-controlled environment and exposed to various environmental factors such as but not limited to noise, dust and smoke.
