Job Description
The Sports and Special Events Manager promotes Las Vegas and Clark County as the premier host destination to event rights holders and event producers in the sports and special events market segment, as well as to key stakeholders, industry partners, and municipalities while aligning with the mission of the LVCVA and driving tourism to the destination.
What You’ll Do:
Keep in mind that this list is not all-inclusive.
  • Maintains the sports and special events lead generation resource tools including Play Easy, Scout, Sport ETA, and other industry platforms.
  • Develops and executes strategies that drive tourism in the esports vertical.
  • Manage and maintain partnerships/relationships with key stakeholders, industry partners and community leaders.
  • Serve in the absence of the department leadership as the key point of contact for meetings, special events and other industry and departmental functions.
  • Actively prospect for and solicit creative and strategic programming to ensure the objective of driving tourism through sports and special events is met. Distributes new and current business leads to Las Vegas and Clark County hotel properties and facilities.
  • Maintain knowledge of current industry trends through research of industry trends, competitive sets, economic and product developments and other factors that may affect the decision to utilize Las Vegas.
  • Serve as liaison between internal staff, event rights holders and producers, key stakeholders, industry partners, and municipalities to develop and maintain creative and strategic programming.
  • Ensure that event rights holders, event producers, key stakeholders, industry partners, and municipalities are represented in the LVCVA youth and amateur sports and special events strategies and that their objectives are met through exceeding the customers’ expectations.
  • Attend community events, trade shows, and various industry functions to ensure Las Vegas and Clark County are known as the premier destination for Sports and Special Events programming.
  • Assists the department head on securing new sports and special event business for the destination including professional and international sports, NCAA, marquee events, and citywide programming.
What We’re Looking For:
  • Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office products, e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.
  • Proven experience successfully creating and implementing a strategic business development plan
  • Advanced ability to listen and communicate effectively with clients, vendors, management, and other ambassadors in a variety of formats
  • Proven sales management experience, preferably in Sports or Marketing required; destination marketing or resort industry experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or a related business field preferred
  • Must travel for extended periods when necessary
  • Must be able to work outside of regular business hours
  • Must be able to support and respect the various cultural and ethnic values, behaviors, beliefs, and attitudes of a diverse workplace
  • Ability to public speak and effectively present information and respond to questions from diverse groups of managers, clients, customers, mission partners and the general public
  • Ability to write reports, budgets, business correspondence, sales collateral, and procedure manuals, as needed
  • Advanced time management skills with the ability to work independently with limited direct supervision
