Job Description
  • Coordinates inmate drug testing and participates in conducting random target inmate drug tests when necessary.
  • Ensures inmate drug testing policy and monthly test requirements are being strictly adhered to by all drug testing officers.
  • Maintains drug testing records and follows up to ensure necessary tests are sent to outside lab as required.
  • Will involve daily travel to SCDC institutions and other sites throughout the state.
  • Maintains drug testing supply inventory and distributes supply orders as directed. Instructs and certifies institutional drug testing officers.
  • Also observes random and target inmate drug testing on an unannounced basis and provides follow-up to supervisor and wardens as necessary for improvements needed.
  • Must have experience with drug testing.
Must successfully complete eight (8) weeks SCDC Basic Training upon hire

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma and relevant experience. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the required program experience.

SCDC Minimum Requirements:
(Or an acceptable equivalency as approved by the Division of State Human Resources).
  • Eighteen (18) months work experience in correctional, security, or police work.
  • A high school diploma.

Certification by the SCDC training academy and satisfactory completion of the basic supervisory course within six (6) months of entry into the position.
