As the window of TikTok's business services, our TikTok UED Monetization team aims to enable and inspire clients to effortlessly connect with audiences and maximize brand potential.
We're looking for an experienced API technical writer to work with our 3rd party partner integration API for e-commerce solutions to create best-in-class technical documentation for designers and developers so they can integrate into TikTok e-commerce and advertising tools.
You'll be able to grasp complex concepts and translate them into concise, developer-facing documentation guides, release notes, and other documentation and learning resources. As an experienced technical writer, your portfolio includes writing samples with examples of how you conveyed complex technical information to both experienced and new developers.
Responsibilities

• Respond to requests for updated content for top issues or new launches
• Plan, write, and manage API and developer-facing documentation for software applications
• Define new documentation processes and iterate on current workflows for efficiency
• Design information architecture with a sharp eye for structure, organization, visual learning and developer experience
• Deliver results in a dynamic work environment with limited supervision
• Gather feedback from the designer and developer community to iterate on content
• Define general best practices and style guidelines for consistency
• Attend demos and meetings to stay informed on functionality enhancements and modifications
• Update content on the website for new releases and iterations

Qualifications
Qualifications

• Self-starter and entrepreneurial mindset who can manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment and still pay attention to the details
• Understanding and using elementary coding (Python, JS, etc) and the difference between instructional language and code snippets
• 10+ years of experience authoring technical documentation required
• Technical developer-facing documentation portfolio including, but not limited to: API documentation, user guides and tutorials, release notes, software or hardware documentation, style guidelines
• Ability to navigate ambiguity, find the right SME and help everyone understand the role of technical documentation
• BS/BA in Computer Science, Technical Communication, English or related field or experience

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with Open API Standards and tools for documentation APIs
• Knowledge of mobile platforms (such as Android, iOS) and familiarity with desktop tools or game engines (such as Adobe, Unity)
• Strong interest in working with new technology and software tools
• Experience in a design or software development environment
• Experience writing API, especially REST API documentation
• Experience working on a global product with international partners in different time zones
• Keeping up to date with industry standards and constantly improving the way we document APIs
• Basic knowledge of HTML/CSS/Markdown language

Job Information
The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $104500 - $209000 annually.

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
