SUMMARY:
The Technical Writer position is a key contributor in producing concise and comprehensive documentation for intricate OEM capital equipment to meet applicable OSHA and ISO standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Capture digital photos and/or videos to document machine operations, enhancing user understanding.
  • Develop clear and concise written content, including machine instructions, user manuals, troubleshooting guides, training materials, and other technical documentation.
  • Apply desktop publishing principles to compile technical data, illustrations, operating information, and other relevant data, following established templates and style guides.
  • Lead assigned special projects, demonstrating strong project management skills, and delivering results within specified timelines.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, engineers, and cross-functional teams to gather information and conduct research, ensuring the creation of comprehensive technical content.
  • Utilize content management systems to efficiently upload and manage customer documentation, ensuring easy access for all users.
  • Prioritize, plan, and schedule workload based on project milestones for Assembly, Test, Machine Checkout, and Final Documentation.
  • Conduct peer reviews and provide editing support to ensure the accuracy, clarity, and consistency of technical documentation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and incorporate best practices in technical writing.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Proven experience in Technical Writing with expertise in mechanical, electrical, and controls concepts.
  • A bachelor’s or associate degree in Technical Writing, Communications, Journalism, Mechanical/Electrical Design, or a related field. Equivalent education and experience will be considered.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning, staying updated on industry trends and adopting best practices in technical writing.
  • Proficiency in using documentation tools such as Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Creative Suite, and content management systems.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to delivering accurate and high-quality technical documentation.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with subject matter experts, engineers, and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong project management skills, capable of prioritizing and managing multiple projects simultaneously.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Occasional exposure to typical machine shop physical hazards
  • Typically sits, grasps items and performs keyboarding for frequent operation of a computer
  • Lift, move or otherwise transfer items up to 30 lbs. occasionally
  • Travel by air or car occasionally
  • Stand, walk, bend, reach or otherwise move about occasionally
