Scientist / Senior Scientist – Cell and Translational Biology
Lassen Therapeutics is a therapeutic antibody discovery and development company dedicated to the identification of novel medicines for serious unmet medical needs. We are currently recruiting for a highly motivated and enthusiastic PhD level Scientist to help advance our therapeutic pipeline focused on novel antibody-based medicines for therapeutic application in tissue fibrosis, inflammation and oncology.
In this role, you will be responsible for designing and conducting in vitro and ex vivo functional and translational assays and managing external collaborations to evaluate the efficacy and potency of therapeutic antibodies. You will bring a strong research background in cell biology, inflammation and immunology with working experience in cell signaling assays, primary cell culture and human tissue models, transfection, flow cytometry, ELISA, Western blot and immunofluorescence microscopy. The position will report to our V.P. of Fibrosis and Translational Biology and be expected to work independently but within a team setting, as well as interact with and assist with management of external collaborations with academic and pharmaceutical industry partners. We maintain a hybrid work culture but this position is a lab-based position and expected to be onsite 80% time.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare technical reports, summaries, and detailed protocols.
- Develop an expanding technical and theoretical knowledge base in cellular biology/pharmacology reflecting a growing understanding of the scientific literature and implement novel translational platforms of fibrosis, inflammation and immunology.
- May be responsible for identifying patentable inventions.
- Develop, optimize, and perform in vitro and ex vivo translational assays requiring a working knowledge and experience with cell signaling, ELISA, immunofluorescence, PCR, protein expression and flow cytometry assays.
- Have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain working relationships with various academic and corporate partners.
- Design and perform experiments to aid our mechanistic understanding of target biology and to define the mechanism of action of individual therapeutic approaches.
- Organize, summarize and present data to management and the rest of the research team on an ongoing basis.
- Design and perform in vitro cellular functional and signaling assays using primary mouse and human cells, as well as cell lines and human tissues to evaluate functional activity of therapeutic antibodies against a range of targets.
- Design and accurately execute in vitro and ex vivo experiments, analyze data and interpret experimental results in keeping with individual project and broader corporate goals.
- Opportunity to contribute to scientific journals and research conferences.
- Work collaboratively with other members of the research team to address a range of scientific questions.
- Write protocols and manage the study design, data flow and timelines of external collaborations across a range of areas including in vitro screening, histology, animal models and ex vivo/organoid-based translational platforms of human disease.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Knowledge of in vitro and ex vivo models of fibrosis and inflammation; In vivo experience is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of principles and practices of cell biology and cellular immunology, including mammalian cell culture, cell transfection, functional cellular and immunofluorescence and cellular assay development.
- Ability to communicate clearly, and to report and present experimental results and analysis to supervisor, department colleagues, and at project team meetings.
- Ability to work both collaboratively and independently.
