Plaid’s Machine Learning team is building models, services and platforms that improve how millions of users understand and grow their financial lives. We are looking for data scientists to utilize best in class methodologies and approaches to build new products, improve existing systems and uncover insights to empower data driven decision making.

In This Position, You Will Utilize a Variety Of Methodologies And Approaches To Strengthen And Improve Plaid’s Fraud Offerings, Including

You’ll be a data scientist on the Data Science Risk team, where you will work on developing systems and products such as Signal to identify and prevent bank payment and platform risk.

Diving deep into Plaid’s unique data to identify emerging fraud vectorsDeveloping new features to improve ML fraud modelsCrafting metrics, alerts, and dashboards to evaluate and monitor ML production model performanceBuilding data pipelines using tools like DBT to automate ETL processesWorking closely with clients to help craft fraud mitigation strategies

Responsibilities

• Diving deep into the behavior and performance of large scale machine learning models to discover new opportunities of improvements and experimentation
• Applying your expertise in quantitative analysis, data mining, and data visualization to find insights for improving our API products
• Championing a data-first approach toward decision-making across the entire organization.
• Making long-term data science roadmap decisions like how machine learning and data science iteration should be done at Plaid
• Informing and influencing product, engineering teams and customers through your data analysis and presentations
• Identifying useful signals that can be fed into machine learning models.

Qualifications

• Data engineering experience and data pipeline tooling (e.g. Airflow, DBT) experience is a plus
• Understanding of modern machine learning techniques, such as classification, clustering, optimization, deep neural network, and natural language processing
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, Economics, or a closely related field
• Ability to code and iterate independently in Python and utilize common data infrastructure tools like Jupyter notebooks, standard ML libraries, Spark, etc
• Familiarity with AWS stack
• Deep familiarity with SQL and data visualization tools
• Proven ability to tailor your solutions to business problems in a cross-functional team
• 2+ years of industry experience in a product focused Data Science role

$180,000 - $270,000 a year

Target base salary for this role is between $ 180,000 and $ 270,000 per year. Additional compensation in the form(s) of equity and/or commission are dependent on the position offered. Plaid provides a comprehensive benefit plan, including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k). Pay is based on factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and skillset, and location.
