Imagine Your Impact.
The Senior Assessment Designer leads the planning and design of IL K-12 assessments. This position synthesizes market needs, instructional best practices, education standards, and foundational research to outline assessment designs. From initial research to prototyping to the creation of detailed documentation, this position brings assessments from conception to production-readiness.
  • Position Type: This is a regular, full-time position.
  • Compensation: Base pay is anticipated to be between $93,268 and $110,000 per year. Eligible employees may also receive incentive/commission/annual bonus pay based on individual and/or company performance. Compensation may vary based on factors such as, but not limited to, individual skills, experience, training, education/certifications, geographic location, internal equity, and local market conditions.
  • Travel: You can also expect up to 10% travel, so be sure you have a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance and a clean driving record for at least the preceding 39 months.
  • Location: In this US-based position your location will be remote.

Envision Your Experience.
In this role you’ll have the opportunity to:
  • Work with content development teams to ensure that items, passages, and other testing materials align to test specifications and are of the highest quality
  • Implement principles of universal design in test development including identifying appropriate accommodations for students with unique needs
  • Ensure assessments align with best practices in assessment design and the standards for educational and psychological testing
  • Develop test specifications for K-12 assessments used for a variety of purposes (placement tests, benchmark/interim tests, formative tests, universal screeners, progress monitoring assessments)
  • In collaboration with Psychometrics, Assessment Research, and Engineering, design logic supporting the administration of adaptive and fixed-form assessments
  • Keep up-to-date with state and federal legislation, state testing programs, and research in K-12 education, test design, and cognitive psychology to ensure that assessments reflect the needs of our educational partners and the students they serve
  • Collaborate to design, maintain, and improve placement and adaptive learning mechanisms within our curriculum products

Share Your Expertise

Experience, education, and qualifications essential for success in this role, include:
  • Experience designing Spanish assessments or assessments in other subjects a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, written, and oral communication skills
  • Highly organized and deadline driven in a fast-paced project environment.
  • 3-5 years of experience in designing K-12 educational assessments in English language arts and mathematics
  • Master’s degree or Ph.D in education, curriculum and instruction, psychology, or a related field
  • Collaborative attitude and the ability to work effectively with a distributed team of content developers, product managers, and technical resources.
