Secretary 1 - Malloy, Iowa Veterans Home

The Iowa Veterans Home is looking to fill a Secretary 1 position to assist the Malloy building and serve as the unit receptionist. The selected candidate will participate in unit receptionist meetings and other committees as assigned.

Duties Include But Are Not Limited To

• Organizing and communicating resident appointments.
• Inventory and orders supply for unit (CS, Print Shop, QM, nourishments). Put product away upon delivery.
• Assist with meals.
• Order items per resident request.
• Complete and submit census and work orders.
• Maintain inventories and forms.
• Assist with admissions/deaths/transfers/new employees.

Under the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS’s) new vaccine mandate for healthcare workers (published on November 5, 2021 and affirmed by the United States Supreme Court on January 13, 2022), all potential employees of this facility must have received, at a minimum, the first dose of a primary series or a single dose vaccine OR have an approved religious or medical exemption (as determined by the Iowa Veterans Home) OR have documentation reflecting a temporary delay in vaccination (as determined by the agency in accordance with CDC allowances), prior to the start date. Candidates shall coordinate with agency staff to ensure all requirements are met before the individual provides any care, treatment, or other services for the facility and/or its residents.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Experience equal to one year of full-time clerical or closely related work;

OR

post high school course work in an accredited secretarial, business, or closely related curriculum may be substituted for the required experience on a month-for-month basis;

OR

completion of thirty (30) semester (or equivalent) hours of undergraduate college level course work may be substituted for the one year of required experience;

OR

certification from the State of Iowa Administrative Assistant Certificate Program will substitute for six months of the required experience;

OR

employees with current continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes permanent status as a Typist–Advanced.
