Food Production Supervisor - Iowa Veterans Home

IVH is looking for a candidate to join our team as a Food Service Production Supervisor. Selected candidate will be responsible for supervising all areas of food service by consistently monitoring and providing feedback to staff related to department staffing and productivity.

Duties include directing staff in the use of equipment, observe and instruct employees to assure compliance with safety and sanitation regulations, evaluate employees' work performance and partake in employee investigations, and completes audits, cleaning schedules and duties as assigned.

The hours for this position will vary, working 10:30am - 7pm, alternating with 9am - 5:30pm, and will include every other weekend.

Under the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS’s) new vaccine mandate for healthcare workers (published on November 5, 2021 and affirmed by the United States Supreme Court on January 13, 2022), all potential employees of this facility must have received, at a minimum, the first dose of a primary series or a single dose vaccine OR have an approved religious or medical exemption (as determined by the Iowa Veterans Home) OR have documentation reflecting a temporary delay in vaccination (as determined by the agency in accordance with CDC allowances), prior to the start date. Candidates shall coordinate with agency staff to ensure all requirements are met before the individual provides any care, treatment, or other services for the facility and/or its residents.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Experience equal to three years of full-time work in food preparation or food service work in a commercial, military, or institutional setting;

OR

any equivalent combination of experience and education, substituting one year of college coursework in dietetics, nutrition, food management, or a closely related area for each year of the required experience;

OR

employees with current continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes experience equal to six months of full-time work as a Cook 2, Baker 2, Ingredient Room Worker 2 or Food Service Leader;

OR

employees with current continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes experience equal to one year of full-time work as a Cook 1, Baker 1, Ingredient Room Worker 1 or Food Service Worker;

OR

employees with current continuous experience that includes any combination of the above experience equal to one year of full-time employment.
