Job Summary

Switch Therapeutics is a South San Francisco based RNA therapy company developing novelconditionally-activatedsiRNAs (CASi) for targeting drug activity to specific cell populations in the body.

We are looking for an experienced RNA biologist to partner with our team in leading a platform sciences research group focusing on special projects in two key areas:

  1. Addressing foundational scientific questions regarding the activities of CASi’s in mammalian cells.
  2. Developing novel implementations of CASi technology to enable new products and therapeutic applications.

The Scientist will work directly with the Principal Scientist to conceptualize and refine research projects and lead project execution from the bench.

This role will require full time onsite work at our research facilities in South San Francisco.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $100,000 and $130,000 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including equity in the Company, a discretionary annual bonus, in addition to a full range of healthcare, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if a candidate receives an offer of employment.

If hired, the employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Responsibilities
  • A part of the work will likely involve building and managing relationships with external contract research organizations (CROs) and academic collaborators.
  • Projects will require considerable technical skill and innovation.
  • Research activities will cover a mix of foundational scientific questions and novel applications.
  • The candidate should have strong interest and skills in management, training, and mentoring.
  • The candidate will need to work collaboratively across the company to build support for research objectives and communicate important outcomes.
Required Qualifications
  • One to five years of experience in post-graduate research (experience will determine position level).
  • PhD in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, or related discipline.
  • Excellent communications, organization, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Candidates must also have a strong record of scientific accomplishments and publications in at least one of the following areas:

  • Activities of synthetic RNA structures or therapeuticsin vitroorin vivo.
  • RNA-RNA, RNA-protein interactions in mammalian cells.
  • Regulation, localization, and metabolism of endogenous RNA molecules.
  • Design and development of DNA and RNA nanostructures for biological applications.
  • Structure and activity of RNA molecules in mammalian cells.
