Single-Cell Bioinformatics Scientist Jobs

Zafrens, Inc., a cutting-edge biotechnology company that is trying to redefine lifesciences product development, is seeking a Single-cell Bioinformatics Scientist. Responsibilities

• Perform routine SOTA analysis of RNA-Seq and scRNA-Seq datasets
• Conduct single-cell sequencing data analysis and interpret results to help drive drug discovery and development.
• Work with software team to build data & metadata access & tracking tools
• Develop software/scripts to automate these analyses
• Compile, distribute, and present analytical results and methods development results at team/project meetings
• Maintain records of prior experiments and trends in data quality over time
• Provide software support for evolving data quality over time
• Perform subsequence extraction and quantification for novel wet-bench barcoding methods
• Communicate data analysis results to the interdisciplinary project team, including biologists and chemists.
• Provide ad-hoc analyses for specific project needs
• Work with molecular biology team to improve analytical result quality
• Develop methods for making and quantifying confidence of binary calls from sequencing counts

Requirements

Minimum requirements:

• Ability to work principally at our office in San Diego, CA
• 2 years of hands-on experience turning FASTQ files into counts tables using standard tools (e.g. STAR, kallisto, Seurat, scVI)
• 6 months of hands-on experience developing models for atypical counts data
• 6 months of experience building JavaScript applications to interact with analytical results
• 2 years of experience programming in Python

Preferred:

• M.S., or PhD degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, or related fields.
• Strong programming skills using R, Python, or C++.
• Strong experience in analyzing next-generation sequencing data, RNAseq, single-cell sequencing data, network analysis and/or statistical genetics.
• Excellent communication skills in both verbal and written forms to facilitate exchange with interdisciplinary team members.
• Experience with standard bioinformatics data analysis tools and databases.
• Strong knowledge of genomic databases, computational tools and algorithms in genomics and molecular biology.
• Ability to work independently and also collaborate with biologists and chemists in a multidisciplinary team.
