Job Description
Keros Therapeutics is a public, clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery, development, and commercialization of novel treatments for patients suffering from hematological and musculoskeletal disorders with high unmet medical need. We are a leader in understanding the role of the transforming growth factor-beta, or TGF-ß, family of proteins, which are master regulators of red blood cell and platelet production as well as of the growth, repair and maintenance of muscle and bone. We have leveraged this understanding and developed a discovery approach to generate large and small molecules to address diseases of these tissues. Targeting TGF-ß signaling pathways has been clinically proven to elicit robust changes in blood cells, muscle, and bone, which we believe provides a precedent and strong rationale for our strategy.
We are seeking a motivated Scientist to join our dynamic, fast-paced preclinical research group. The successful candidate will be an integral member of a team helping to develop novel therapeutics that treat rare disorders. This position will primarily involve research that focuses on the utilization of our platform to expand into new disease areas including neuromuscular and bone disorders. The successful candidate must be scientifically motivated, have excellent communication skills, and be comfortable working in a dynamic and cross-functional team environment. Title and salary will be commensurate of the candidate’s relevant experience and expertise.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Work with and manage external research at CROs.
  • Aid in the training and mentoring of junior staff.
  • Analyze and present scientific data, engage colleagues in cross-disciplinary scientific discussion, and stay abreast of relevant scientific literature.
  • Perform in vivo analysis to help broaden our understanding of how our therapeutic leads mechanistically mediate their biological actions.
  • Design, plan, and execute in vivo pharmacology studies to evaluate efficacy, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, tolerability, and mechanism of action of drug candidates
Qualifications:
  • Proficient in rodent handling, experimentation, dosing (IV, IP, PO), blood collection, and tissue harvesting
  • The position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of multi-disciplinary team
  • Must be a scientifically motivated self-starter, capable of independently conceiving, conducting, and critically analyzing his/her own innovative research with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in molecular biology techniques (cell culture, ELISA, qPCR, western blot, etc.)
  • Minimum Education/Experience: PHD with 1-3 years’ experience, industry experience is a plus
  • Experience in immune-histological analysis and tissue processing
Our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Mission Statement:Keros is an inclusive company. We believe that diversity drives innovation. We continue to build an inclusive culture that encourages, supports, and celebrates the diverse voices of our employees. As such, Keros takes a holistic approach in mentoring, coaching, and developing all of our Keros team members.
