Job Description
Company Summary:
Tessera Therapeutics is pioneering Gene Writing™— a new biotechnology designed to offer scientists and clinicians the ability to write small and large therapeutic messages into the genome, thereby curing diseases at their source. Position Summary:
This is a contract position with a July target start date, running through the end of the year (with potential to extend or convert). The Research Associate I/II will be responsible for developing LNP formulations and processes to support the company's in vitro and in vivo pre-clinical studies. We are searching for a driven, enthusiastic, and self-motivated individual who is comfortable multitasking and working independently on various aspects of the platform. This individual will join a dynamic, rapidly growing, and highly collaborative team.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain thorough and detailed electronic lab notebooks and documentation records
  • Adhere to all laboratory safety requirements and procedures
  • Work both independently and as part of a collaborative team to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Utilize physicochemical testing methods to screen and characterize novel LNP formulations
  • Strengthen Tessera’s gene editing delivery platforms by developing novel LNPs
  • Assist in maintaining general laboratory functionality, including lab equipment maintenance and the ordering and receiving of lab supplies
  • Routinely formulate nucleic acid payloads to support the company's in vitro and pre-clinical studies
Basic Qualifications:
  • BS/MS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Material Science, or closely related field with 0-3 years of industrial/academic research experience is required
  • Self-motivated individual who is open to new challenges and has strong scientific rigor
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills for effectively interfacing with all members of the company
  • Perform experiments that involve preparation and physiochemical characterization of nanoparticles
  • Deliver effectively on time sensitive assignments, and document/communicate scientific data
  • Ability to troubleshoot process equipment and analytical instrumentation
  • Possess a strong work ethic and good documentation practices, including electronic laboratory notebook and inventory maintenance
  • Ability to excel in a dynamic, fast-paced, and highly collaborative environment
  • Analyze, compile, and present results to internal teams comprised of members from multiple groups and stakeholders
  • Adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Maintain process and analytical equipment as needed
  • Supply LNP test articles for biological studies to enable formulation and process development
  • Perform duties according to applicable safety procedures
  • Proven ability to work with a high level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills that enable a high level of productivity and timely completion of assignments
  • Knowledge of nucleic acid chemistry and biology is a plus
