Job Description
The Role:


Moderna is seeking an agile and motivated Research Associate to join the Clinical Immunoassay group to serve as an analyst for the biomarker assay development, qualification/validation, and sample analysis to support programs across multiple therapeutic areas.


The candidate will need to perform analytical work and maintain clinical testing continuity. The ability to effectively communicate within a project team is expected. Preferably, the candidate has some prior experience in running assay validation and conducting data acquisition on clinical specimen. The candidate should be a collaborative team member and an excellent communicator to support Moderna’s portfolio needs.


The candidate will work closely with project team members to develop analytical methods and characterization tools in support of Moderna’s clinical phase studies. The position will report to the Group Lead of Immunoassays.


Here's What You’ll Do:
  • Deliver high quality data within defined timelines and aligned to current industry expectations
  • Assume assigned general laboratory responsibilities, e.g., safety coordinator, instrument/process/technology owner etc.
  • Attend technical conferences and exhibits as required
  • Occasionally the job may require overtime work or weekend shift as needed
  • Identify and resolve quality issues and report issues to upper management
  • Always ensure compliance with safety and regulatory guidelines. Maintain training records
  • Conduct assay development, qualification/validation and sample analysis on a variety of platforms (ELISA, MSD, Ella, Automated ELISA Workstation etc.)
  • Contribute to bioanalytical reports
  • Under the guidance of project lead, be responsible for the overall quality and integrity of assigned bioanalytical projects in support of clinical trials at Moderna


Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table:


  • Flexibility with changing priorities and urgent project requests
  • Good written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Preferably experienced with cell culture, ex vivo assays and cell isolation from tissues
  • Preferably knowledgeable in system software for data analysis: Softmax pro, Gen 5, and basic laboratory statistics
  • Preferably experienced with cell-based neutralization assay
  • Preferably experienced with Multiplex immunoassay
  • Preferably experienced with bioanalytical assays for vaccine development and infectious disease
  • An effective communicator and collaborator in a project team
  • Bachelor or MSc in bioanalysis or related field with immunoassay experience preferably in a regulated environment
  • Demonstrated level of independence
  • Good computational skills, preferably experienced with Word, Excel, Power Point, GraphPad Prism
