Job Title: Research Associate II/III
Location: Waltham, MA (travel to Cambridge, MA intermittently, 2-3 days per month)
Duration: 1 year
- The successful candidate will play a key supporting role in building genome editing technology as an approach for treatment of rare blood and/or rare genetic diseases.
- We are seeking Research Associate II/III to be part of a team focused on rare genetic diseases in the Genomic Medicine Unit.
Specifically, the remit of the candidate will be to:
• Assist researchers in experimental design and execution of flow cytometry experiments, including but not limited to:
- Cell isolation, sample preparation and staining
- Panel design and optimization
- Cellular Sorting
- Data analysis and presentation
- Data Acquisition
• Develop and review flow cytometry laboratory procedures and SOPs.
• Maintenance of laboratory stocks of supplies and reagents at Customer's expense
• Flow cytometry support, daily QC, monthly maintenance.
• Support discovery efforts for in vivo editing approach.
• Design and execute in vivo and in vitro experiments, maintain detailed record electronically in accordance with *** policy.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with team members across the GMU
• Fosters creativity, productivity, execution with a sense of urgency, scientific integrity, and accountability. Maintains a collaborative culture.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, genetics or related field plus minimum 6+ years of relevant research experience in an academic or biopharmaceutical setting OR Master's Degree in immunology, biology, chemistry, biochemistry, genetics or related field plus 3-5 years of relevant research experience in a biopharmaceutical setting OR PhD in immunology, biology, chemistry, biochemistry, genetics, or related field. No Post doc experience required but preferred.
Prior experience with the following is preferred
- Must be proficient in cell-based assay development and molecular techniques.
- Hands-on experience with gene editing technologies is a plus.
- Experience in operation of multiple flow cytometry platforms (e.g.: Client, Sony, etc.) and specialized analysis software (e.g.: FlowJo, ...)
- Proficient knowledge in flow cytometry and at least 3 years' experience applying flow cytometry techniques in research, preferably in an industry setting.
- Previous experience with flow cytometry, hands-on experience in developing flow cytometry-based methods.
- Understanding of hematopoietic stem cell biology and red cell biology is a plus.
