Research Associate I - Chen Lab

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and talented Research Associate I to join the Chen lab. This is a unique opportunity to join the lab of Dr. Fei Chen, a Core Institute Member at the Broad Institute who is developing spatial transcriptomic methods for studying differences in genome structure and mRNA expression across cell types in health and disease.

We are looking for an exceptionally creative and self-motivated individual to collaborate with us on scaling up new methods for imaging the genome, epigenome, and transcriptome of cells in situ. The successful candidate will collaborate directly with biological laboratories across Boston to solve challenging biological problems using the methods we are developing. The work will combine basic molecular biology and sample handling with microscopy and in situ sequencing techniques. The successful candidate will be encouraged to design, analyze, and perform their own experiments, and to engineer creative new solutions to challenges faced by the lab. The Chen lab is a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment. CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES

• Work with a team to develop, design, and carry out experiments that are essential to the group's collective success.
• Consult with team leader and other scientists on priorities, methods, and timelines.
• Interpret primary literature, experimental results and design follow-up experiments.
• Maintain a detailed organizational plan and record to ensure successful and timely completion of tasks.
• Document, summarize and present findings in individual and group meetings.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Bioengineering or related field. Highly motivated candidates are encouraged to apply.
• Experience with microscopy preferred
• High level of initiative and motivation; ability to work independently and with a team
• Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills
• Proficient with molecular biology techniques
• 2+ years of experience in a research laboratory
• Ability to think creatively to solve problems
