Job Purpose

The purpose of this role is to provide executive level direct-line leadership of all regional manufacturing sites and environmental health and safety (EH&S) performance. The scope of this role will span across all MCG businesses and product lines within the Americas region. This includes a wide breadth of manufacturing processes (i.e. continuous manufacturing, batch, film, mix-filter-pack, extrusion, and molding) with a diversity of process safety management (PSM) and occupational safety requirements. The Regional Operations Director will create and foster a Safety Culture that is committed to “0” injuries and actively drives PSM as a foundation for safety performance. The Regional Operations Director will provide strategic leadership and direction to the regional manufacturing multi-site network translating business manufacturing requirements into operational blueprints to safely deliver value to our customers. This leader will employ the use of best practices, systems, and tools while ensuring the capabilities and skillsets of the employees are developed to sustain continuous improvement gains.

The Regional Operations Director will be a member of the Regional Leadership Team (RLT) and act as the primary point of contact for all things Operations supporting the regional business. Deliverables for this role are top tier safety performance, 100% regulatory compliance, sustained top tier delivery to promise, tangible cost savings and productivity improvement attributed to leveraging and best practice execution.

Principal Accountabilities
  • This role will have a significant impact on the entire regional manufacturing base that currently generates ~ $2B in annual sales.
  • Solid line reports include the following: Manufacturing leaders in each business and / or product line, Manager of Regional EH&S, and Manager of Product Stewardship.
  • Closely collaborate and provide support to MCA affiliates and MCC JV companies in the region.


PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Product Stewardship Leader
  • Responsible to assess regional manufacturing operations and benchmark against industry best practices related to work processes, management processes, manufacturing systems and equipment. Directs manufacturing and engineering teams to drive continuous improvement efforts toward best practice standards.
  • SPECIAL FEATURES:

  • Responsible to drive functional excellence to deliver objectives for fixed and variable cost, working capital, capital expenditure, and EHS / core values
  • Directs manufacturing and operations management in the region in sharing and driving the adoption of best practices. Implements venues and systems for best practice information dissemination and deployment. Ensures the continued training and development of manufacturing and operations team.
  • Lead the regional operational organization by empowering, enabling and developing people to be effective teams. Ensure an open collaborative culture is in place where people are held fully accountable to deliver results yet supported and coached to reach their full potential.

  • Broad manufacturing and operational experience and expertise across multiple chemical/plastic processing environments that can be leveraged.
  • Develop a clear operational strategy for the organization that drives long-term operational performance. Ensure the strategy is aligned with business and functional priorities. Ensure the strategy is developed into long-term improvement plans and success.
  • Responsible for Direct-Line Leadership of MCA Manufacturing multi-site network including:
    • Regional Manufacturing Site Leaders
    • Regional EH&S Manager
    • Product Stewardship Leader
  • Specific skillset and hands on experience with Process Safety Management in high-hazard processes and low-hazard operations is preferred.
  • Relevant and periodic travel to manufacturing locations is required.
  • Focus on safety, capability building, continuous improvement, and root cause problem solving that drives the optimization of the key business metrics.
  • Accountable for regional operations tactics and performance while maintaining EHS focus. Responsible to manage and report on site network performance; hold direct reports accountable for achievement of network plans and goals and take corrective action where necessary to ensure the achievement of network objectives.
  • Ensure effective resource and operational planning that enables low cost manufacture, high customer service and optimum asset utilization.
Knowledge / Skills / Experience
  • BS in engineering required, and MS engineering and/or MBA strongly preferred
  • Experience in both discrete and continuous manufacturing processes
  • Strong leadership skills, with experience managing and mentoring a team of leaders with various levels of management experience
  • KNOWLEDGE/ EXPERIENCE/SKILLS: (Required to be successful in this role)
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in working in a corporate matrix organization
  • Broad chemical/plastics manufacturing process and system knowledge (high-hazard experience and background preferred)
  • Executive level experience (a minimum of 15+ years of experience) in managing multi-site plastics and/or chemical operations with a proven track record of driving safety performance commitment to “0” injuries, and delivering cost-effective value to customers.
  • International operations experience is a plus
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing, six sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies.

Pay Transparency (complete highlighted sections)

The salary range for this position is $210,00 - $285,000. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered. This salary will be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.
