Description

Make a Difference at one of New York's best hospital

Make a lasting impression on our community at NewYork-Presbyterian and uphold a long-standing commitment to the highest level of performance. NewYork-Presbyterian has a tradition of bringing hope, health, and healing. Join our dedicated team, and help us deliver superior customer service to our local community. Seeking a program coordinator to join NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital’s Turn2Us Program is a Public Elementary School Mental Health Prevention and Promotion Program in upper Manhattan.

Program Coordinator – Turn2Us - Grant Funded

More than half of adult mental health conditions begin prior to the age of fourteen, and affect individuals well into adulthood. Childhood mental illness disrupts the normal processes of social, emotional, and physical development for children, adversely affecting their performance in school and long-term academic attainment. Children in impoverished urban settings encounter demographic factors that further increase their risk for mental health and behavioral problems, and quality treatments are often lacking in these communities. NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital’s Turn2Us is a collaborative program with local elementary schools, Columbia University Pediatrics, and the Turn 2 Foundation. It utilizes a social-ecological approach to promote mental health and academic success for children in underserved communities throughout Upper Manhattan. It provides targeted interventions for children at risk for mental health conditions as well as universal interventions to promote mental health literacy and wellbeing for the entire school community including parents and teachers. We seek to hire a full-time program coordinator who will assist in student, parent and teacher program development and implementation as well as data collection and program evaluation. The program coordinator will meet with students to create attainable goals and monitor the progress. The Program Coordinator will work under the direction of the Program Manager and in collaboration with a physician lead and school staff at the schools themselves.
