Posting Summary:
The Office of Global Engagement is seeking a Grant Researcher who must be eligible for federal work study funding (approved via the Teachers College Office of Financial Aid). The primary responsibilities of the Grant Researcher are to maintain an accurate and comprehensive grants database for TC faculty and students engaged in international work; and to create newsletters that highlight funding opportunities relevant to the TC community. In addition, the Grant Researcher may be asked to conduct research related to issues around international education. This position requires a commitment of a minimum of 13 hours/week.
Job Summary/Basic Function:
Primary responsibilities include performing academically relevant (when possible) basic level administrative tasks and contributing to special projects under the direction of their supervisor. Other minor and major related responsibilities; including but not limited to:
- Assist with communications and office support, including answering phones and emails
- Contribute to and support with special projects
- Assist with website maintenance, communications, and database management
- Support general office functions
- Assist with planning and execution of programs within the department
The general breakdown of responsibilities will be as such:
Grant Research
- Research and summarize background material for funding proposals
- Maintain the International Grants Database; and a calendar of submission deadline
- Design, draft and edit funding newsletters for faculty and students
- Summarize Requests for Proposals (RFPs)
- Search for available and relevant grants across multiple databases
International Research
- Prepare literature reviews and presentations on relevant topics
- Research literature and data relevant to project topics
- Track and compile information about faculty’s international activities
Other relevant tasks

Scheduling
Student work schedules are based upon the needs of the department and the student’s academic schedule. Students should discuss their schedule with the hiring manager/supervisor during the interview process. Hiring managers/supervisors will make every attempt to accommodate students’ needs.
Work Limitations
During the academic year students may not hold appointments or any combination of appointments totaling more than 27 hours per week.

Minimum Qualifications:
Must have been awarded federal work-study for the term in which a work-study position is being sought
Must be a TC student currently enrolled in a degree program and taking at least 5 credits
Must be able to abide by Teachers College academic and personnel policies and guidelines, including FERPA, Student Confidentiality Agreement and the Student Privacy Requirements
A minimum commitment of one semester
Previous experience
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Strong team player; able to work with a diverse group of staff and faculty
- Able to multitask, prioritize and work with little supervision
- Knowledge and/or experience with sourcing for funding opportunities
- Must be a strong writer and able to research and edit large volumes of information
- Knowledge and/or experience with qualitative research tools
- Experience with designing templates on platforms such as CANVA
- Experience with grant writing
Salary Range:
$18.00 per hour
