Product Manager; STaaS


This role has been designated as ‘Edge’, which means you will primarily work outside of an HPE office.

In this role, you will work cross-functionally to guide products from conception to launch by connecting the technical and business worlds. You should be able to break down complex problems into steps that drive product development.
Ability to build and work on world-changing products to market and collaborate and work closely with creative engineers, designers, sales, marketers, pricing, and finance etc. to help design and develop technologies. We're responsible for guiding products throughout the execution cycle, focusing specifically on analyzing, positioning, packaging, promoting, and tailoring solutions to customers’ requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Cross Team Collaboration - Guides key stakeholders on the portfolio strategy across all phases of the lifecycle (e.g., planning, development, launch, management, and exit).
  • Creates and drives goal alignment and collaborates across one or more products' value chain partners to optimize margins and enable success of products per plans across the product lifecycle. (ie. Engineering: product development, Supply Chain: SKUs, inventory and Marketing: marketing and pricing strategies and Go To Market Plan).
  • Use Case Definitions - Builds and delivers the value proposition, target customer segments, and business case to bring innovative and disruptive products to market for a product portfolio with respect to the whole company product portfolio (i.e. Product configuration mix, Revenue/Margins, financials, market share).
  • Strategy and Execution plans - Independently leads and drives the end to end strategy and operational product roadmap for one or more complex products or a product portfolio.
  • Market Awareness - Synthesizes market requirements (MRD) into marketing/customer details through having intimate customer knowledge and business, financial and industry market acumen.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Technical understanding and knowledge of the relevant industry
  • 10+ years of work experience in related field
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in computer science, engineering, or related field of study. MBA or advanced degree in computer science or engineering preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Extensive business acumen and knowledge of root cause analysis and problem detection.
  • Extensive team skills and ability to cross functionally drive/influence work through others, ability to mentor and lead teams to achieve results for complex, ambiguous projects.
  • Extensive skills in cost efficient solution building, financial performance metric creation and analysis
  • Technical understanding and knowledge of the relevant industry and ability to provide product specific technical training to the team.
  • Ability to present to upper management and approval committees with clear definitions and results.

  • Additional skill sets include self-starter, cross product influencer, team builder, developer of differentiated value assessments (product and competitive)
  • Experience in delivering complex solutions to market
  • Ability to drive product development in an early stage market segment
  • Ability to see and assess the broader picture
  • Expert in obtaining buy-in among peers and management
  • Willing to take risks with critical decisions that impact engineering teams and overall direction
  • Experience in driving and leading a complex, multifaceted, early market stage product
  • Self-driver and able to make decision in the mist of seemingly incomplete information
  • Comfortable with defending a decision with upper management.

The expected salary/wage range for a U.S.-based hire filling this position is provided below. Actual offer may vary from this range based upon geographic location, work experience, education/training, and/or skill level. If this is a sales role, then the listed salary range reflects combined base salary and target-level sales compensation pay. If this is a non-sales role, then the listed salary range reflects base salary only. Variable incentives may also be offered. Annual Salary: $124,500.00 - $286,300.00
