Position Description


Advanced Energy United is currently seeking to fill a new and unique position of Policy Trainer. The ideal candidate will have experience in the non-profit sector providing training, development and mentorship for entry to mid-level employees. This person will have had hands-on experience developing campaigns, whether political or social, and trained employees in how to develop campaigns, organize and/or coalition build.


This newly created role will report to the Director of Training and Workforce Development and work closely with our VP of Policy and Advocacy. The successful candidate will be a people person who takes initiative, can identify skill gaps, is organized, able to multi-task, possesses analytical skills with the ability to work cross-functionally with our HR and Policy teams. This position fits at the senior principal level within Advanced Energy United’s staffing structure.


Responsibilities


  • Collaborate with managers to identify skill gaps and needed training
  • Develop skills manuals and other training material for new and junior to mid-level employees
  • Prioritize policy/campaign/organizer related training for junior to mid-level employees
  • Conduct train-the-trainer sessions with relevant managers
  • Track employee progress post-training and provide mentorship
  • Manage the library of training materials, content and self-guided trainings relating to campaign and policy trainings


Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in public policy, education, or other relevant focus and at least 5 years of professional experience or applicable comparable experience
  • Experience developing skills manuals and training materials
  • Experience developing curriculum for organizing and/or campaign trainings
  • 2+ years of direct experience in organizing or campaign work
  • Experience with developing and driving mentorship program
  • Ability to travel as needed, roughly 15%
