About the role:

We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, hands-on individual to join our team as a Staff Accountant. This opportunity requires an experienced individual with an accounting background, high attention to detail, excellent problem-solving abilities, and an enthusiastic attitude. Candidates must have the ability to juggle multiple tasks and priorities, thrive in a highly driven environment, enjoy learning new skills, procedures, and systems, and have an overall desire to contribute to company growth. This is a collaborative role working closely with Payroll, Equity, Accounting and Corporate FP&A teams. The role is focused on payroll and equity related transactions therefore requires a detail-oriented person with a high level of discretion managing confidential compensation data. The role reports into the Global Payroll and Equity organization, which is within the Corporate Accounting function at Samsara.

In this role, you will:

• Participate in ad hoc projects as needed
• Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices
• Work closely with Payroll to ensure proper payroll accounting setup for new entity rollouts
• Provides reporting to our Strategic Finance team on monthly Payroll results and reporting
• Prepare payroll JEs and related account reconciliations
• Drive process improvements within payroll accounting and any upstream/downstream processes
• Perform month end close activities in accordance with Samsara policies and US GAAP
• Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts
• Participate in new benefits rollouts to ensure proper setups for accounting and reporting

Minimum requirements for the role:

• Experience working under strict deadlines and ensuring compliance with company policies
• Critical thinker, able to implement scalable processes
• Strong organization skills with exceptional attention to detail and follow-through
• Knowledge of operational accounting processes
• Able to work with high volume of transactions in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent analytical, technical and auditing skills
• 3+ years relevant accounting experience. Public accounting experience preferred
• Must be a fast learner, multi-tasker with a strong desire to learn and a ‘can do’ attitude
• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in accounting
• Must be able to collaborate and communicate effectively
• CPA or interest in obtaining CPA
• Experience with NetSuite and intermediate Excel skills strongly preferred

Samsara’s Compensation Philosophy: Samsara’s compensation program is designed to deliver total compensation (based on role, level, and geography) that is above market. We do this through our base salary + bonus/variable + restricted stock unit awards (RSUs). A new hire RSU award is awarded at the time of hire, and additional RSU refresh grants may be awarded annually.

We pay for performance, and top performers are eligible to receive above target equity refresh awards which allow employees to achieve higher market positioning.

The range of annual base salary for full-time employees for this position is below. Please note that base pay offered may vary depending on factors including your city of residence, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

$59,024—$86,800 USD
