The staff accounting position performs tasks related to day to day accounting activity for the corporate and Flagship groups. This includes entering data for accounts payable, booking cash entries, performing assigned duties for close, and processing journal entries. Additionally, the staff accountant will contribute to the close process by performing initial reconciliations and account analysis. The staff accountant will operate within the internal control environment setup in Workday. Assist in other accounting, audit support, financial, and organizational duties as needed.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Transactions

  • Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed
  • Perform journal entries as needed for corporate and flagship entities
  • Operate within the controls system in Workday for accounting transactions
  • Monitor accounts payable activities ensuring strong supplier relationships are maintained
  • Process AP transactions for Corporate and Flagship as needed
  • Record bank transactions Payroll entry recording and reconciliation for multiple markets


Reporting

  • Provide financial analyses at the Corporate and Flagship levels for fluctuations to budget and prior periods Assist in compiling reports to include other markets
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations Process month end entries on a timely basis


Compliance

  • Assist with corporate and Flagship support of transactional information to external auditors for the annual audit
  • Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings including 1099 filings


Special Projects

  • Assist with transition of new entities into the Workday system by mapping GL to Account Set Contribute to new initiatives and special projects as needed


EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administrator or related discipline


EXPERIENCE:

  • Corporate accounting experience with established expertise in multi-entity consolidations, functioning in a high-transaction environment, use of estimation processes, and purchase / acquisition accounting.
  • 2+ years of accounting / financial reporting experience in a multi-location enterprise or division of a large corporation.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

  • Ability to analyze strengths and areas of opportunity and lead cogent planning with both individuals and groups in developing and implementing successful outcomes.
  • Workday systems experience a plus
  • Ability to travel periodically, and to successfully operate in a remote work environment.
  • Collaborative style that emphasizes the value of communication, service, transparency, and teamwork.
  • Knowledge of managed care and value-based care financial concepts (claim reserving, incentive calculations, etc.) preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to listen effectively and be open to the ideas of others. Can present data and translate complex issues into comprehensible ideas in a concise and easily understood manner.
  • Excellent spreadsheet and automation abilities.
  • Excellent analytic and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Strong grounding and knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, and application of GAAP in preparation of internal and external financial statements.
  • Ability to collaborate with peers and colleagues in the organization.
