We are seeking a Jr Accountant to support a federal agency by providing support for all Advisory task areas.

Job Responsibilities:

• Identify and implement operational efficiencies
• Assist in conducting risk assessments of grant recipients.
• Develop and sustain solid relationships with client personnel and identify opportunities to provide additional services
• Develop and implement an audit strategy that complies with professional standards and appropriately addresses risks
• Assist in planning and conducting desk reviews and site visits of grant recipients to ensure compliance with program and administrative requirements.
• Collaborate to plan engagement objectives, actions, and status reporting
• Expert working knowledge of the financial statement audit process as well as evaluation and resolution of financial statement audit findings.
• Prepare a summary of aggregated deficiencies and corrective action plans
• Construct narratives and flowcharts for each major cycle

Qualifications:

• Ability to evaluating variances, maintaining Excel spreadsheets, and perform other routine accounting and auditing tasks as well as the ability to recognize and obtain supporting documentation from all sources, especially from computerized systems working from a list of audit samples or transactions provided.
• Demonstrate knowledge of 2 CFR 200 Uniform Guidance requirements.
• Ability to retrieve and analyze a large volume of accounting transactions in computerized systems with supervision.
• 2+ years Contracts/Grants Experience
• Position is primarily remote but must be able to come into office when needed
• 2+ Years demonstrated ability to perform routine accounting and auditing tasks associated with reconciling, posting, summarizing, and reporting financial transactions.
• US Citizenship is required to obtain needed U.S. Federal security clearance
• The A-123 Internal Control Junior Accountant should demonstrate knowledge of OMB Circular A-123 Appendices A and Appendix C requirements and have prior experience providing support functions as detailed in Section 3 above titled “Technical Requirements”.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or in a related field with a minimum of 24 hours in accounting coursework, as well as the 150 hours of total coursework required to obtain a CPA license
