Job Description
At HubSpot, protecting customer data is imperative to our business. We build our products with our customers' trust in mind and use an end-to-end approach to data security, privacy, and control as the foundation of every part of our product. We now have a Payments platform that requires the same rigorous approach to keep our customers and their customers safe from bad actors.

As a Payments Risk Analyst, you will play an instrumental role in ensuring the security and integrity of our payment systems, protecting our organization and customers from financial fraud and other payment-related risks. You’ll develop and implement risk management strategies, monitor payment activities, and drive initiatives to mitigate potential risks.

This work can be broken into three main focus areas:

Risk Management Strategy

You’ll identify existing risks in our product, and assist our Product teams to develop secure products based on industry best practices and trends. You’ll conduct assessments of payment related risks for things like fraud, credit risk, AML, chargebacks and compliance. You’ll develop and implement fraud prevention and detection measures using data, ML and other technologies. Finally, you’ll monitor fraud trends and patterns and help us enhance our existing systems and processes.

Compliance And Regulatory

You’ll stay up to date on payment industry regulations and compliance requirements, like AMP and PCI-DSS, and make sure we are compliant with regulations and best practices in payment risk management. You’ll partner with internal stakeholders to implement controls and processes to keep us compliant.

Data Analysis And Reporting

You’ll make decisions based on data and be comfortable with doing in-depth analysis of payment data to identify risks. You’ll create and maintain reporting and presentations related to risk metrics and trends, and provide actionable recommendations to improve them.

You’ll do this while partnering deeply with other teams at HubSpot and external partners and vendors. Some of the teams you’ll work with internally could include Merchant and Buyer Fraud Prevention, PayOps, Underwriting Finance, and Engineering.

We’re looking for the following experience for this role: (Note, the items in bold are must-haves to be considered for this opportunity)

  • Proficiency in data analysis, using tools such as Excel, SQL, or data visualization software
  • Professional certifications in risk management or fraud prevention (e.g., CFE, CRISC, CAMS)
  • Experience with fraud prevention technologies, machine learning, and data analytics tools is highly desirable
  • Strong knowledge of payment systems, industry standards, and emerging trends in payment risk management
  • Proven experience in payments risk management, fraud prevention, or a related field
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think strategically in a fast-paced environment
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and compliance frameworks in the payments industry
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
