Title: Patient Research Coordinator


Location: Upper East Side; Brooklyn; Lower East Side; Midtown; Queens; West Side


Org Unit: All of Us (PMI/HPO)

Salary Range: $26.79 - $32.39

Position Summary


This role engages, recruits, and enrolls study participants into clinical research programs at Weill Cornell Medicine.


Responsibilities include various outreach/recruitment (email, phone-calls, in-clinic, table events) and enrollment activities (which include patient education, informed consent, survey completion, biospecimen collections (blood draws, Saliva collection, urine collection), physical measurements, and vital signs). This role serves as a point of contact for the team and leads the training and mentoring of junior staff in study activities such as program pitching, and review of clinic standard operating procedures.


This position requires phlebotomy tasks- e.g., drawing blood from patients. Incumbents will be trained, must be comfortable with biospecimen collection.


This position requires travel to offsite enrollment locations. Incumbents may be assigned to conduct program activities at healthcare locations across the Upper East Side, Lower Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, and elsewhere. Commitment to accuracy, high attention-to-detail, and ability to work independently are critical competencies for the role. Outreach and engagement activities may take place in the evening and weekend hours.


This position requires friendly and bubbly professionals who are willing to raise program awareness in any scenario, waiting rooms, street fairs, conferences, etc.


Job Responsibilities


  • Responsible for participant recruitment efforts that include outreach phone calls, canvassing, and tabling events.
  • Assists with brand awareness: flyer distribution, recruitment table presence at community events, health fairs.
  • Provides guidance and training to new and junior patient research assistants.
  • Responsible for patient engagement activities, such as program education, potential participant recruitment, scheduling participants appointments or retention activities when needed, assist with community tabling events.
  • Responsible for accurate data capture and entry: documentation study activities into REDCap and other program documentation platforms
  • Perform other duties as required and/or directed
  • Approach potential participants in clinic waiting rooms, hospital lobbies, community tabling events, and inpatient settings.
  • Assist with inventory of supplies onsite.
  • Responsible for various study activities, such as explain the All of Us Research Program to participants and assist with enrollment, take participants physical measurements, and biospecimen collection.
  • Assists with biospecimen processing onsite as needed.


Education


  • Bachelor's Degree


Experience


Bachelor’s degree in the Sciences, Public Affairs, Public Administration, Marketing, Communications is preferred.


  • Familiarity with IRB interaction, regulatory policies, database input and report generation preferred.
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish/Mandarin/Cantonese) preferred.
  • Phlebotomy training can be provided, but prior certification preferred.
  • Research experience in an academic health center with exposure to a team research environment at all levels (nurses, research coordinators, lab technicians) preferred.
  • Experience with conducting and carrying out protocols and research coordination preferred, including experience obtaining informed consent.
  • Approximately 2 years of experience in a clinical setting. A graduate degree in a related field may be considered in lieu of experience.
  • Training on REDCap and EPIC is provided, but prior experience preferred.
  • Database management experience.
  • Sales, marketing, or recruitment experience required (either in a formal or informal capacity).

  • Strong computer and technology skills required (e.x. Microsoft suite)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required (i.e. prior “people facing” experience).
  • Strong communication skills required
