This position is Direct Hire and does not support sponsorship and is an onsite role in Crystal Lake, IL
This position will be responsible for obtaining purchased components and services from suppliers at the lowest total cost consistent with considerations of quality, reliability of source and urgency of need. Assignments are broad and complex in nature and require technical expertise, ingenuity and independent evaluation. Areas of responsibility may include purchasing MRO supplies, plastic, corrugate, and paperboard packaging, services and commodities as assigned by the Facility Director. This role will evaluate product and services in terms of quality, delivery and price to provide the most value to the requisitioning party and the corporation. Develop and execute strategies for continuous improvement of overall total cost of procurement.

Responsibilities
· Develop strategies to control Cost, Quality, Delivery, and Product improvement.
· Raw material/supply purchasing.
· Develop and execute strategies for continuous improvement of overall total cost of procurement. This should include cost and inventory reduction, delivery performance, and
quality improvement.
· Interact with all departments within the DCs to discuss supplies and services required.
· Identify activities and conditions requiring corrective action, communicate
recommendations regarding these matters to the site management for actions to be taken to remedy the matter.
· Coordinate purchasing projects with suppliers, including all contracts, purchase orders, tooling
agreements, etc.
· Keep project timelines on track. This would include assuring parts are quoted based on
current sourcing strategies.
· Coordinate major resourcing projects for the DC, and for the division regarding
packaging.
· Develop and manage the packaging strategy for the Tools group.
· Work closely with Packaging engineer on package design to optimize
set assembly.
· Work with Product Management and Marketing to launch packaging for new product
· Assure current packaging suppliers are meeting requirements and resource
or expand supply base as necessary.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
REQUIRED:
· Bachelor’s Degree in a related field, MBA preferred.
· Three to Five (3-5) years of experience in a purchasing function required.
·
Previous inventory management experience.
· Strong negotiating skills.
· Good interactive people skills with the ability to effectively present information and respond
to questions from groups, management and/or individuals.
· Team player and Team Leader when needed.
· Ability to apprise a
situation and counsel team members accordingly.
· Work safely as a condition of hire and continued employment.
· Able to negotiate and write contracts for MRO and direct supplies (following standardized company templates).
· Ability to manage new product and process improvement projects in a fast-paced environment.
· Training in SPC and other quality programs.
PREFERRED
· Familiarity with Reach, ROHS, Conflict minerals, Sarbanes-Oxley, and other government compliance issues preferred.
· Entrepreneurial in thinking.
· Knowledge of the Lean manufacturing principles and cellular manufacturing concepts.
· Interest in further development of personal skills and knowledge.
· Experience in a Distribution center setting and/or buying packaging. Interest in current technology and trends.
