Job Description

LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking a buyer for their client located in Metro Dayton. Your primary focus will be coordinating procurement efforts across multiple disciplines and departments within our organization, ensuring optimal arrangements for pricing, delivery, and total cost of ownership.

Reporting Line:


Responsibilities:

  • Process returned goods authorizations (RGA) for purchased materials.
  • Identify opportunities for product standard cost reductions and implement appropriate measures.
  • Send out requests for quotation (RFQ) to suitable suppliers for both new and existing parts.
  • Expedite replenishment orders and deliveries when necessary to meet production deadlines.
  • Efficiently and accurately procure production materials and supplies.
  • Review and maintain Kanban purchase quantities, reorder points, and supplier lead times.
  • Negotiate and secure favorable pricing, delivery terms, and overall cost effectiveness.
  • Prepare purchasing spend analysis and reports as required.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering department to procure prototype parts or materials.
  • Collaborate with the Production department to proactively manage inventory levels in line with established objectives.
  • Establish effective visual materials replenishment triggers.
  • Optimize inventory by identifying and minimizing slow-moving or obsolete stock through regular review of aged inventory reports.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate levels of finished goods and/or accessories.
  • Collaborate closely with the Production department to ensure timely and effective procurement of materials.
  • Maintain inventory levels that align with production requirements and minimize aged inventory.
  • Work collaboratively with Engineering and Quality personnel to enhance supplier quality and address warranty issues.
  • Procure necessary production perishable supplies and small tools.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Operations, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in negotiation and supplier sourcing.
  • Professional affiliation or certification (e.g., APICS, NAPM) is preferred
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering documentation, such as drawings.
  • Comprehensive understanding of lean manufacturing analysis techniques and proficient in implementing associated tools.
  • Experience with server-based material control and procurement systems.
  • Self-motivated individual capable of working with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in utilizing the MS Office Suite.
  • Understanding of the Foodservice Industry and related equipment.
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong mathematical skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including exceptional written, verbal, and listening abilities.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment and effectively manage multiple priorities.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a materials procurement role supporting manufacturing, warehousing, or operations.
  • Knowledge of material control and perpetual inventory systems.
  • Exceptional multitasking skills in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
