Job Description

Miller Formless was founded in 1970 as a leading provider of mid-sized automated paving systems and other products.Located in McHenry, Illinois, the company operates out of an 80,000+ square foot manufacturing facility and continues to provide the same quality product and service it pioneered in the 1960s.Its machines are currently in use throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, Central America, Asia, and Australia.

Summary

The Buyer/Planner role supports purchasing and planning activities and ensures the timely delivery of components and other materials to support production schedules. This position monitors production needs, issues, and progress ensuring products can be manufactured and shipped to meet customer requirements and specifications while exceeding delivery expectations. Assists in scheduling and procurement of material through production planning inputs, determining the quantity and date materials are needed to ensure optimal inventory levels.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in process improvement projects.
  • Assist where needed to generate purchase orders based on ERP demand, and purchase requisitions.
  • Create/Issue work order packets to the production floor.
  • Actively participates in meetings to discuss open issues, commitment dates, and production status.
  • Ensures ERP accuracy for work in process status as well as inventory levels.
  • Solicits quotes on new business to assist in costing for production parts or services as required.
  • Work with accounting to research accounting discrepancies to resolve pricing issues.
  • Maintains effective communication with all levels of the organization to assist with the flow of materials and update production status.
  • Take action to expedite back-ordered, past due, and/or out-of-stock materials/orders as necessary.
  • Evaluate cycle counts with a focus on identifying systemic deficiencies.
  • Working within planning and procurement disciplines to maintain priority schedules for Manufacturing & Assembly departments.
  • Collaborate with Suppliers and /or internal customers to negotiate and resolve delivery requirements, material shortages, inventory levels, or quality issues.

Qualifications:

  • Experience using an ERP/MRP system preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment (Fabrication, Machining and Assembly) preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred) or equivalent work experience required.
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, SharePoint.
