Description


This position is responsible for designing, building, and executing a best-in-class training system for our plant processes. This position will be responsible for creating and maintaining a standardized approach to operations technical training for departments within manufacturing, logistics and maintenance. Proven skills in building/sustaining production training programs, including proper training materials, trainee/trainer interactions and monitoring the program’s effectiveness. Advises management on training opportunities and maintains training documentation which are essential to this position. In addition, establish and maintain audit systems to verify compliance to safety, quality, lean and cost related production projects. Training Coordinators will report to this position.

Responsibilities:


  • Periodically hosts training on 2 nd shift.
  • Manage work of training coordinators and will manage level two training coordinators.
  • Directs and monitors trainers as they perform production training functions.
  • Maintain updated training records, including digital training records and visual training matrices posted in each production area.
  • Develop, implement and maintain production wide audit systems, focusing on safety, quality, lean, cost and training effectiveness.
  • Conduct plant-wide training needs assessment and identify skills or knowledge gaps that need to be addressed, including training records needs assessment.
  • Implement processes and systems to address training needs and gaps.
  • Working with subject matter experts, designs and develops production training programs in all production areas.
  • Identifies and implements the appropriate training methods or activities (e.g. OJT, simulations, classroom, etc.) needed to ensure program is effective.
  • Assess trainee/trainer effectiveness and determine the impact of training on employee skills.
  • Designs, prepares and order educational aids and materials.
  • Gather feedback from trainers and trainees to ensure training effectiveness and acts independently to improve training processes.
  • Leading Train the Trainer classes for plant participants.
  • Advise management on training opportunities as observed and develop action plans as appropriate.


Qualifications


Education:


  • Demonstrated ability to implement and manage production training programs.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field, plus 3-5 years of Training and Development experience, or equivalent

  • Above average Computer literacy, particularly Microsoft Office applications.
  • Positive characterization by sense of urgency, ownership, and pride.

  • Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including presentation skills.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment is required

  • Ability to develop and maintain standards, manage processes, and analyze information,
  • The ability to work as needed to cover production demands and to multitask.

  • Demonstrated performance in continuous improvements (6S, Kaizen, process improvements, etc.).


Physical Demands:


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stoop, reach, stand, walk, lift, pull, push, grasp, talk, hear, see and use repetitive motions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may frequently lift and or move up to 30 pounds of material, boxes, etc. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as reading handwritten and or typed material and must have the ability to focus.
