Job Description
Overview:
Responsible for the management of the day to day administrative support of the Atlas fleets training programs. Provides oversight to tracking pilot qualifications and progression during training to ensure that any negative trends identified are addressed by Flight Operations Management. Manages the Training and Standards support team and ensures all training policies and procedures are carried out in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations, company policies and the Atlas Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) for each appropriate fleet.
Responsibilities:
  • Interface with FAA Aircrew Program Manager (APM) to provide support and coordinate training and observations. Serves as a liaison between FAA APM, Fleet Captains, and Training Scheduling.
  • Responsible for creating, updating and managing all training forms for publish and use by the Fleet Captains, Instructors and other department personnel.
  • Document and evaluate trainee’s qualifications to assign Operational Experience (O/E) type. Gather pilot experience data to record for progression tracking.
  • Support the Senior Director, Flight Procedures, Training, and Standards by identifying opportunities for training standardization and uniform operation.
  • Ensure that appropriate events are added to schedule and are monitored for proper usage to minimize financial impact.
  • Manage Crew Member Training Instructor (CTI) roster. Update roster with newly qualified instructors and monitor to ensure that requirements and currency are met and maintained. Execute on capacity planning process and provide insight to future forecast demand.
  • Coordinates and documents instructor calibrations to ensure calibrations are conducted in accordance with department policies.
  • Manages data in progression tracking to calculate PASS/FAIL rates to evaluate training program efficiency.
  • Drafts all FAA letters as required for review and approval by the respective Fleet Captain, this includes but is not limited to UNSAT letters, Deactivation Letters and Check Pilot/Designated Examiner Letters. Upon approval, notices must be sent to the FAA Principles Operations Inspector (POI) for notification within an appropriate timeframe.
  • Manages instructor and part-time instructor initial training and qualifications, and partners with Training Scheduling for future forecasting.
  • Develops and manages various activity reports for progress and performance tracking. Interface with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure all training regulatory requirements are met through reporting. These reports include but are not limited to:
    • Check Pilot Activity Report
    • Pass/Fail
    • ST Tracking
    • Total Completion
  • Responsible for managing progression tracking of new hires from O/E requirements. This includes but is not limited to: identifying remedial training/Unsatisfactory events, calculating and recording training and O/E footprints. Coordinate remedial training as needed based on trainees progression throughout the training program.
  • Provides administrative oversight to the Special Tracking (ST) process. Drafts all Special Tracking approval letters for review and approval to inform crewmembers of Special Tracking status based on performance.
  • Track Check Pilot progression and qualifications to collaborate with Line Training Scheduling team for availability and future forecasting.
  • Provides administrative oversight of trainee’s progress and manages flight crewmembers training requirements.
  • Manages the administrative support of the Training Review Board (TRB). Plan and coordinate all TRBs, this includes but is not limited to: notify all respective parties, prepare and circulate meeting materials and resources.
  • Responsible for coordinating Standards Meetings. Track attendance and record codes for appropriate payment where applicable.
  • Total Completion
  • Partner with Human Resources to gather trainee’s resumes for review to designate Standard Operating Experience or Enhanced Operating Experience, and Airline Operations Familiarization.
  • Responsible for ensuring optimization and efficient utilization of part-time instructors. Ensures that an appropriate and sufficient number of part-time instructors are available and utilized and does not conflict with the terms of the Atlas CBA.
  • ST Tracking
  • Provides administrative oversight of part-time instructors. This includes but is not limited to: oversight of new instructor onboarding, time sheet approval and per diem calculations and payment.
  • Manages and develops direct reports through effective performance management and ongoing feedback, focusing on delegation for stretch assignments. Developing the team for capacity and growth, evaluating performance across the team and time management.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all new instructors and facilitate their initial and recurrent trainings.

  • Performs other responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Director, Flight Procedures, Training and Standards. Initiate and/or participate in process improvements.
Qualifications:
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments, prioritize, be proactive and work in a high-stress environment
  • Ability to champion cross-departmental operational solutions
  • Must have 5 years’ experience in airline Training Scheduling
  • Must have thorough understanding of Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) related to part 121 subparts N and O is preferred
  • Supervisory experience is preferred
  • Mastery of AIMS or any other integrated Airline Information System preferred
  • Self-starter with the ability to work with stringent deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively with technical groups
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in an Aviation training organization
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Advanced level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Aviation Management or relevant field is preferred
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and diplomacy
