Job Description

The National Account Manager (NAM) reports directly to the Director of Sales and is primarily responsible for achieving and exceeding the budgeted annual revenue goals. Among the areas of focus are hunting and winning new accounts nationally, forecasting, and effective and creative trade promotions for the portfolio of Volpi branded products. In targeted accounts, the NAM will work with a team utilizing a proven sales process to deliver an exceptional sales experience to large accounts nationally.In addition, a portfolio of existing customers will be directly managed by the NAM in association with inside customer-service personnel.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Prepare annual sales budgets by customer/channel where incremental growth is inclusive of current SKU assortments, innovation items, expanded assortments and additional Points of Distribution (POD) targets.
  • Prepare and perform account assessments and analysis with named sources.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
  • On board new accounts and maintain established accounts with quarterly category reviews.
  • Create trade spend programs with promotions that are creative, executable, and within budget.
  • Calculate and accurately forecast monthly to actual sales.
  • Create sales plan(s) for new products with ideation to on-shelf strategy and execution.
  • Implement and execute margin delivering pricing models.
  • Achieve 1-3 Large Account New Account Sales (more than $1MM each) annually.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Intermediate proficiency in Excel is preferred.
  • Demonstrates passion and a commitment to results.
  • Excellent sales and customer service skills. Willing to partner with and hold brokers accountable.
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ work experience in the specialty food industry. Prior experience in merchandising is a plus!
  • A minimum of a high school diploma is required.An Associate or bachelor’s degree in Economics, Logistics, Business Management, Supply Chain Management or Culinary is preferred.
  • General Knowledge of transportation/logistics for the US.
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
  • Prior experience with accurate forecasting and a history of partnering with the operations team.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Prior experience working at the retail store level with an understanding of and execution of the path to purchase map.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
