Job Description

Job Summary

The Account Manager, Farm Ranch role is the face of BrightPet Nutrition Group (BNG) to the Farm and Ranch channel and retail partners. This includes both omnichannel and bricks & mortar retailers and may purchase both branded and private label products from us. Each is a sophisticated retailer with a variety of touch points, including merchandising, marketing, e-commerce, supply chain, finance, and IT. The Account Manager, Farm Ranch will lead BNG’s efforts across all of these areas, supported by the appropriate individuals and teams within BNG.

The role is responsible for growing BNG’s sales, margins, share, presence, and influence within these retailers. With the help of rep groups and broker partners in some cases, they will ensure that information flows smoothly and in a timely manner such that BNG is the top consideration for new items, promotions, sourcing, and growth opportunities. They will also drive collaboration and appropriate efforts within BNG to ensure customers’ needs are being exceeded.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop an effective sales organization within the Farm and Ranch channel as the company grows and recruits and leads portions of the sales effort through others in the organization.
  • Lead Headquarter Calls across the Farm Ranch channel with the support of our broker/rep partners but lead actively as the voice of BrightPet.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Use their knowledge and reputation to influence behavior both at customers and within BNG. Work well within and between teams and raise the level of performance through personal performance, standards, and accountability.
  • Gather and manipulate data, create information that can be shared and used to drive results. Stay updated on consumer and industry trends that can positively or negatively affect both customer and BNG performance.
  • Understand merchandising concepts for both B&M and online retailers and navigate teams within those organizations to effectively promote BNG’s product and capability offerings.
  • Profitably grow sales and share with Farm and Ranch accounts. Build relationships and trust with customers and focus on growing mutual business interests.
  • Works closely with the Brand Ops team to ensure the successful management of new product launches and effective inventory management through BrightPet stage gate and forecasting processes to ensure ‘Best in Industry’ OTIF performance.

Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal and written communications ability.
  • A self-starter adept at understanding the myriad opportunities in the business and effectively prioritizing those opportunities based on the needs of the business.
  • Experience with CPG companies that have grown brands and developed and launched new products & brands is required. Must have experience in leading a customer team and experience in the pet industry is a plus.
  • Proven success in developing individuals and teams to drive results.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Outlook required. Experience with Macola ES or equivalent database software required.

Specific Requirements

  • Preferred experience within the Farm and Ranch channel.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and insurance coverage.
  • Assist other personnel in accomplishing tasks from time to time.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience and demonstrated success in a sales role.
  • Must be able to travel as dictated by corporate needs.
  • Willing to work overtime and some weekends as requested by management.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience selling to and managing multi-store chain accounts with a progression in sales accountability and scope.
