Medical Editor Jobs

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Edits complex, often lengthy scientific and medical documents for clarity, grammar, spelling, formatting, and punctuation; for adherence to applicable regulatory and client guidelines; and for consistency.
• Supports project teams in annotating and referencing material for submission to varying medical/legal reviews.
• Coordinates the flow of documents via document sharing systems (e.g., Basecamp) and follows all procedures to ensure version control throughout the project development and editorial processes.
• Performs quality checks to ensure accuracy of near final documentation and confirm functionality of final output.
• Edits Microsoft Word and PowerPoint documents using defined styles, corporate and client templates, and Simpson document style guides.
• Reviews final submission and confirms all changes have been incorporated prior to final approval before materials are sent for production.
• Participate in all regular client and internal staff meetings as needed.
• Contribute to regulatory document preparation such as protocols and clinical study reports.
• Partner with the Client Services to ensure an exceptional client experience and 100% client retention.
• Be able to work independently and with initiative, but also demonstrate strong team/collaboration skills.
• Reviews iterative draft submissions to ensure that requested changes have been consistently included throughout the materials.
• Reviews and/or revises draft materials from medical writers to ensure alignment on the usage of AMA or client style guides and consistency with other program materials with team members.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

• Excellent communication skills including verbal, written and presentation.
• Two or more years of medical/scientific editing experience in a medical communications agency, medical publishing or pharmaceutical/biotech setting.
• Enthusiasm, positive attitude and a sense of humor is always appreciated!
• Well-versed in the AMA Manual of Style.
• Good understanding of pharma/biotech industry specific regulatory guidance.
• Experience with product launches, both US and global.
• Excellent technology skills and a high proficiency with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Outlook).
• Solution-oriented, with excellent organizational skills.
• Experience with web-conferencing tools such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams and WebEx.
• Must be a strong team player and be willing to work in an environment where individual initiative is highly valued and full accountability to the team is required.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize projects effectively.
• Bachelors degree in a related scientific or clinical field.
