Job Description
Job Summary


Responsible to manage all aspects of materials flow and to maintain control and accuracy over all inventories, including all transactions, procurement, cost, warehouse, internal material handling, receiving, and shipping to ensure that customer orders are shipped on time.


Essential Functions


  • Keeps abreast of new sources for supplies and materials; establishes procedures to accomplish procurement of a variety of materials in a cost-effective manner
  • Recommends major purchases of materials on the basis of anticipated changes in prices or on unusual availability situations
  • Coordinate and work with quality, engineering, production planning, and assembly operations to ensure 100% on-time customer delivery by establishing and monitoring vendor performance and proactively identify and address any issues that prevent meeting the goal.
  • Participates in supplier contract negotiations and vendor selection; monitors performance and capabilities of vendors to ensure maintenance of delivery, quality, and price commitments
  • Ensures products, parts, or supplies are shipped, distributed, or received in an efficient manner
  • Develop and execute a sourcing strategy to meet the company’s business growth and sourcing requirements.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Process Engineering, and Quality to achieve cost reduction targets
  • Responsible for accuracy of inventory counts by implementing and managing, in conjunction with accounting, an inventory control system, capable of identifying inaccuracies and taking adequate corrective actions to rectify.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional business teams to develop the best economic strategy for production planning to support customer demand.
  • Establishes policies and procedures to ensure timely flow of materials and tracking of physical inventory; arranges for disposal of surplus materials
  • Performs analysis of material requirements with forecasts and historical usage to develop material acquisition plans sufficient to execute to customer demand requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and manage fully integrated planning process that incorporates make versus buy, capacity planning, demand purchases through MRP, inventory, material, and associated cost elements.
  • Acts as a liaison in dealings between vendors and user departments when necessary
  • Identify, develop, and manage effective relationships with existing and potential suppliers of goods and services to meet the established cost, quality, and delivery targets
  • Investigates and solves problems resulting from material shortages
  • Establish, implement, and manage system to evaluate, monitor, and report supplier scorecard performance.
  • Maintains inventory as required by production schedules and/or customer orders while minimizing inventory and carrying costs
  • Manages supply chain functions, which may include, but are not limited to, forecasting, material procurement, inventory control, warehousing, outsourcing, vendor selection, and distribution
  • Hires and trains new staff members; supervises and evaluates job performance
  • Participates in MRB and CAR meetings to resolve quality issues working with both internal and external sources.
  • Establish and implement methods and best practices related to systems and processes that support inventory forecasting, purchasing, and material control
  • Manages scheduling of deliveries to prevent excess stock/ backorders; develops inventory targets, order points.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in business, management or related field
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in management of materials and sourcing within a custom design and manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and their use in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
  • Must have knowledge of a variety of software applications including but not limited to Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
